What is the SUsie Project? The Recovery toolkit programme. The support groups we run are in a number of locations covering Cornwall, they provide a safe meeting place for women who have experienced domestic abuse. Women can gain much needed support from other individuals who understand what they are going through. The support groups help women to move on and can prepare them for joining a Recovery Toolkit programme. The Support Group meetings offer:. Friendly, approachable and experienced facilitators.

Project Initiation - 1 - 2 months. 1 Identify potential mentors and group facilitators. 2 Recruit potential mentors including advertising, interview, selection and CRB check. 3 Book trainers, venues and arrange childcare etc. Training and Assessment - 1 - 2 months. 1 Provide training and assess progress. 2 Provide Shadowing opportunities with experienced workers. 1 Identify clients and match with mentors (location etc).

Ensure that women volunteering to train as Mentors have recovered and moved on from their own experiences of domestic abuse. Ensure that training provided for mentors is arranged to take account of child care and other issues. Provide regular supervision for mentors, one to one and group supervision. Ensure mentors understand the importance of following policies and procedures, particularly in relation to safeguarding issues.
