MoIA: Musee d'Art Impenetrable - imaginary wing. Monday, January 31, 2011. This is exactly what silence looks like in my head. Buried behind an uninspiring stack of rubbish and rust. a simple concept intersected by low-hanging pipes - that clank. There are other nooks in my head too. And somewhere i hear a gramophone playing songs tied to ex-lovers - that's a noisy wing. And you - here you are - observing. hello! Welcome to my museee d'art impenetrable - that's impenetrable museum of art - though the "ar...

ferris wheel bohemia: July 2011
http://ferriswheelbohemia.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Oh and hey, i went to berlin. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Hello there. Long time. This post is brought to you by Wim Wenders'. I had very little to do with it. Frankly, until watching. Last night, I'd thought about shutting this whole blog down (so silent, for so long. it was becoming atrophy). But the film's message and setting jolted me. See, a couple weeks ago I rode to LA with a filmmaker, a trunk full of art and the art's maker, a certain Jared Lindsay Clark. The Lives of Others. If you've seen the fi...

ferris wheel bohemia: August 2011
http://ferriswheelbohemia.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
In honor of august: squash cake. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. I looked at the calendar today and I saw that August is over. How can that be? I had no sense of it coming. This is what happens when your schedule is your own and you have no real use for calendars - or clocks for that matter - just days and nights. Back and forth, up and down, an endless side-to-side sashay with no context. But seeing we were on the very tip-end of August, I thought -. But no, after wanting nothing but slivers of peanut butter ...

ferris wheel bohemia: April 2011
http://ferriswheelbohemia.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Oh, marie. vanities of queens and cake. Tuesday, April 05, 2011. See all that green grass laying cushion for the cake plate - who would have thought such lush life was hiding under those last crusts of snow and grey skies! Our toe-dip into spring came just in time to blow March out the door like a lamb. which also meant it was just in time for my mom's birthday. And yes, I've been known to shout that). Into (a few short hours later) this prim, fit-for-a-queen-mother's birthday layer cake. Fit for a Queen!

Bon Appétempt: Video: Vanilla Celebration Cake
http://www.bonappetempt.com/2015/05/video-vanilla-celebration-cake.html
Video: Vanilla Celebration Cake. This is seriously the most amazing cake. It baked so evenly and so well and was remarkably easy to cut into three separate layers. It also traveled well. (Rumor has it that it tasted good too.) I'll definitely make it again and again. Via Jane Hornby's What to Bake and How to Bake It. NOTE: This is just the recipe for the cake part of Hornby's. The book comes with so many baking tips and is generally pretty great. 6 eggs, room temperature. 3 cups all-purpose flour. Using ...

The above was set out, however, before my big culinary change of heart, as documented here. And while we're on the subject of pivotal moments. And, of course, this one.
