Speed Birding: November 2011
http://annafasoli.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 22, 2011. My favorite order of birds is by far the owls, also know as Strigiformes, which includes Tytonidae (the Barn Owls), and Strigidae (the "typical owls," all other owls besides Barn Owls). I recently bought a new camera body, but haven't had time to go searching for any birds to photograph. So until I can get back out there, enjoy some of my favorite owl photos taken with cameras I have retired! Burrowing Owl: Boise, Idaho. Elf Owl: Madera Canyon, Chirachua Mountains, Arizona.

So far, this one has had the best camouflage! Common Nighthawk (probably female) roosting on fallen tree (photo by Alex Lamoreaux). Common Nighthawk - male.

Speed Birding: Gearing up for my trip to the Azores...
http://annafasoli.blogspot.com/2012/09/gearing-up-for-my-trip-to-azores.html
Thursday, September 13, 2012. Gearing up for my trip to the Azores. This book is going to be extremely helpful, as it lists all the birds recorded in this region, in addition to which islands they have been seen on, along with range maps specific to the Macaronesia region. Only a handful of birders have entered their sightings onto ebird, so this book will really come in handy. Pretend this page isn't in Spanish). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Speed Birding: Trip to Miami, 12/28 and 12/29
http://annafasoli.blogspot.com/2010/12/trip-to-miami-1228-and-1229.html
Friday, December 31, 2010. Trip to Miami, 12/28 and 12/29. On December 28 and 29 I traveled to Miami to pick up Alex from the airport for a visit. We spent a day birding in the area and saw a good variety of Florida birds, and picked up what will be our last new year birds. We did see an adult Snail Kite on Route 41 but were a little too far for photos! Here are some of the Florida specialties, many of which are not native but have established populations within cities. Established populations in the wild.
