No More Rock Stars | PhotoDino
https://photodino.wordpress.com/2013/10/31/no-more-rock-stars
A film addicted photographer who doesn't hate digital folk. No More Rock Stars. Cross posted from my other blog.). Remember the Ashlee Simpson Saturday Night Live debacle? Let me refresh your memory: http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Well, as long as they look good doing it, we’re pretty OK with it; at least we seem to be OK with it, since we keep watching, listening, and buying the music. Back to Ashlee. (Or substitute Milli Vanilli if you’d prefer. Same idea, different generation.) We knew. Now, before I p...

A film addicted photographer who doesn't hate digital folk. Jump ahead five years. Just a quick share today. I’ve always been a big fan of getting my subjects in the air, whether it’s jumping on a bed, a trampoline, jumping off something, anything that gets them airborne. In the case of these girls, who I first photographed five years ago, no launch assistance is required. So here they are, then…. Bad scan, good jump. Laquo; Oh, the anticipation. Travelin’, Man. Date : September 28, 2010. I really liked ...

A film addicted photographer who doesn't hate digital folk. Well, it has been some time, hasn’t it? I’ve been away…three-and-a-half years? Absent from here and, for the most part from portraiture, but growing and evolving and learning a whole lot about life and people and art. And teaching. Lots of teaching, in the virtual world, but also a few workshops in the states, a few in the UK, and a great little trip to Iceland. (Have you ever been to Iceland? Drop everything and go.). Will I stay on this blog?
Portraits in the UK | PhotoDino

A film addicted photographer who doesn't hate digital folk. Portraits in the UK. I’m happy to announce that I will be in London, UK in early October and am available for a very few portrait sessions while I’m there. I’ll be arriving around the 1st and leaving the 10th. Sessions done in this time frame will be at my regular Denver rates, with no travel or additional fees applied. This shot has nothing to do with the UK. Just an old favorite I'd forgotten about. Laquo; Plan to fail, please. You are comment...

A film addicted photographer who doesn't hate digital folk. Plan to fail, please. I was dropping my son off at his driver’s education class this morning (may God protect us all) when I saw that old bumper sticker standard on the car ahead of mine: What would you try if you knew you could not fail? What is failure, where photography is concerned? Is it missing an exposure, missing a moment? Is it falling into a creative rut? Not meeting the client’s expectations? Here’s the problem. If you don&#...I’...

Latin Sounds Funny with a Southern Drawl. Archive for January, 2008. On January 31, 2008 by edye. My friend Terry’s comments about our childhood photographic exploits really made me wonder how often we share a memory, without even knowing it. When I first read. I was immediately taken back to the autumn of my youth when the birds would descend on the fields after harvest; great masses of black winged thieves, scavenging the land for crumbs of sustenance. Its significance is highly personal. He had given ...

Latin Sounds Funny with a Southern Drawl. Archive for February, 2008. Laquo; Older Entries. Continuum (nocturnal photography at the truck stop). On February 29, 2008 by edye. Completely unhappy with the results of my initial shoot, I made my way back to the Transport for Christ Chapel at the truck stop. I thought the rain would make for some interesting contrast and armed with a serious camera, perhaps get better results. First of all, I looked at. My viewfinder, rather than merely through. My fixer was ...

Latin Sounds Funny with a Southern Drawl. On February 22, 2008 by edye. All the leaves are brown. And the sky is gray. I’ve been for a walk. On a winter’s day. Last night I attended a gallery exhibition opening (more on that later) downtown. It was raining, a steady cold rain, the kind that settles into your bones and makes one long for warmth and sunshine. I fought the traffic a bit more and finally found a spot that didn’t look like I’d be towed or ticketed for using and made my way into the gallery.

The voices in my head. A home for my musings, prose, poetry, story snippets, and other stuff. Some published, some unpublished.
