Thursday, August 4, 2016. When Writing the Real Story. If you have been following my blog, then you know my first two novels are about my family, the first one about my mom, and the second about my maternal grandparents. For those of you who may be stopping by here for the first time, I decided to write about my family for my debut novel and continue that with my next book because I felt they were good stories to tell. Are their stories unique? I know for myself, I wish I knew so much more about my great...

Patty's Notes: May 2015
http://pattymseitz.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 5, 2015. It was so wonderful to see that. Then, in maybe about a half minute later, her breathing stopped, and we said are final good-byes. Yeah, I know. You are probably thinking, where is the gets better part? It happened when I got home, and it has to do with my grandmother, one of the main characters in my next novel, A Life Well Loved. You see, when I got home, the first thing I wanted to do, needed to do, is put all traces of Bailey away. Now, the quiet in this house is not quite as sad.

Patty's Notes: July 2015
http://pattymseitz.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 15, 2015. This has been an exciting month for me with the release of my second novel, A Life Well Loved. It’s funny, though, because I felt a little like the enthusiasm wasn’t. There as it was for the first book. I’m selling copies, and even some are buying my first book, A Life Unplanned, so that has been a nice surprise, but still, it felt like something was missing. I was talking it over with my sister, and she gave me a perspective I know I would not have thought of on my own. Patty's...

Patty's Notes: March 2015

Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Happy St. Patrick's Day. I actually tend to forget this day, I guess because I'm not Irish, but in any case, I hope you enjoy the day. Here is another excerpt from A Life Well Loved. Harrison’s younger brother, Walter, did serve, but thankfully came home unharmed. His other brother, Fred, also registered, but not until September of 1918. The fighting had ended the previous month. Emma was so grateful that none of her boys had been harmed or worse during such a terrible time.

Patty's Notes: January 2015
http://pattymseitz.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Here is a another excerpt from A Life Well Loved about a very funny story one of my cousins told me that happened to her mom. It will give you a little glimpse into the funnier side of life back in the early 1920s. 8221; Beth screamed. 8220;I can’t find the handle! It was the only place he would ever sit in the living room, and just about every child and grandchild would eventually sit in his lap in that same chair, either listening to a story or singing a song. She looked at h...

Patty's Notes: February 2015
http://pattymseitz.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 26, 2015. I don’t think anyone would argue that there are so many books that we want to read. Even if being fortunate enough to have started reading at a young age, there is no possible way to read every book, especially when you consider how many are published each day, and that is rising even faster since the advent of self-publishing. It sits there and collects dust until someone else happens along and maybe catches it, if they even get to that part of the store. Maybe after I’...

Patty's Notes: December 2016
http://pattymseitz.blogspot.com/2016_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 21, 2016. I say “sort of” funny because my husband did think it was, but to this day, I feel bad about my reaction. On a quick side note, in case you don’t know, my third novel is about my life with my husband, with the characters fictionalized, but the events are true. One of the first places Andy was going to apply was in Minneapolis. My response was to tear up and utter ever so pathetically “bleak! Ready to face the fact we were going to be moving. Sure I would ever b e. Y and alwa...

Patty's Notes: October 2015
http://pattymseitz.blogspot.com/2015_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 28, 2015. There have been many articles written about whether or not an author should put their book on sale for free. These sales are usually set for 1 to 5 days. Writing a book is not as easy as it might sound. First, you have to come up with a story idea. Then there are the characters involved, and even figuring out the character names can be difficult. But no matter the time or work that has gone into a novel, should it ever be given away for free? My second novel, A Life Well Love...

Wednesday, March 9, 2016. I have written more than once in the past about my fondness for journaling, and I talk about having more than one type of journal in my post from 8/13/15. Which I have to take out and read more often). On the other side sits three journals, my aunt’s diary, and a copy of To Our Children’s Children,. Which is a guide for writing down your life story. Two of the journals are very flowery with a jeweled clasp to close them, very girlie, girlie, but I love them. I have no id...One o...
