Sunday, August 05, 2012. I really enjoyed taking my first (ever) pottery class this summer. I made pinch pots, slabs, and worked on a wheel! I think the slabs were my favorite. I ended up making a series of cylindrical pots (vases? With imprints of lace and crochet swatches that I found in a bin in the classroom. It was really great to explore a new medium, but apparently I couldn't stray too far from my love of stitches! Somewhere and make something, since most of my knitting takes place on my couch at ...

Monday, September 26, 2011. A few weeks before a friend of mine was due to have her baby on 4th of July weekend, I decided to knit her two little hats. She had shared pictures of baby hats with oversized animal ears on Facebook and I felt I could grant her wish. I quickly searched ravelry for patterns to make a mouse and a bunny hat and found this. I purchased superwash wool in the appropriate colors and began what I thought to be a simple little project. Its funny how that happens. Do all the work.

Friday, March 30, 2012. I started knitting a little something green. Audrey In Unst by Gudrun Johnston. That I think will look great with sleeveless dresses in late summer/early fall. The yarn is Green Mountain Spinnery Simply Fine. I don't often knit with variegated yarns, so I am really enjoying the different shades that pop up in each stitch. Sunday, October 23, 2011. I am lucky to live so close to such a beautiful state as Maine! I am entranced by the many islands, small coastal communities, and remote, rural living. I often fantasize about my husband and I living off the grid in a house surrounded by water like this couple. Maybe someday.) But a great thing about being so close to Maine is the opportunity to visit KnitWit Yarn Shop. In Portland and shop their selection of Quince and Co. yarns! I chose the colorway "gingerbread" to make Agnes.

Thursday, February 16, 2012. A flurry of hats. This winter hasn't had much to offer in terms of snow and cold weather, but that hasn't stopped me from knitting some warm and woolly hats. For these two hats I used Lion Brand's. Pattern and a combo of. Cascade Yarns Baby Alpaca Chunky. Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Grande. Both wonderfully squishy, soft and extremely warm yarns. It's fun to mix and match colors for the hats, then top them off with a perky pom-pom! Monday, February 06, 2012. Not much to say.

Monday, October 22, 2012. This past weekend, I ventured out to Rhinebeck, NY, with some friends for the annual NYS Sheep and Wool Festival. The weather was gorgeous (68 and sunny) and the woolly creatures all seemed happy to greet us. I got some goodies for projects I'm really excited about, like some midnight blue wool to knit a sweater for my husband. And some variegated silk/wool to knit a Maxfield Cardigan. Saturday, July 07, 2012. Last weekend we visited friends who are getting ready to open their own coffee roastery. In Portland, ME. It was my first time there in warm weather (I've always been in fall or winter! And it was just as lovely as I imagined. If you are around Portland after August, stop by Tandem Coffee.
