A family's journey through Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean aboard their sailboat. Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Living on a boat, at anchor, in a land based society. Is it a pain in the booty to transport groceries and laundry back and forth via dinghy? Have I paid a few library fines for water damaged books? Of course, but I wouldn’t change a thing. To some, our life is strange and bazaar. To us it makes sense. Live simply. Travel. See the world. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Monterey to Morro Bay.

A family's journey through Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean aboard their sailboat. Saturday, August 30, 2014. A Sunset from Half Moon Bay. Our days are limited here in Half Moon Bay. As I write this from our cockpit pelicans are diving for their dinner and the sky is on fire, again. We will miss this "temporary" home, however our time has come to find warmer climates. The days are getting shorter and cooler temps are around the corner. Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Friday, August 22, 2014. We have ...

A family's journey through Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean aboard their sailboat. Sunday, March 29, 2015. Our departure from Zihuatenajo was followed by two night arrivals into unfamiliar ports. We typically try to avoid this for obvious safety reasons. Our original intention was to head straight to Acapulco from Zihuatenajo. This would be an overnight sail. Luckily we knew three other boats that we had met in Zihuatenajo would be in Papanoa to direct us in. We were surrounded by the city ligh...

How has this boating experience changed you? I feel more adventurous. I feel like I have more freedom than someone living in a house. I think living on a boat has simplified my life. I don’t feel the need to do all the primpy things I would have to do if I lived on land. I also own a lot less shoes. You can stay up all you ...

A family's journey through Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean aboard their sailboat. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. A Day at the Museum of Anthropology - Mexico City. Jake and I couldn't get over how cool everything was, so we took an obscene amount of pictures. Sunday, April 26, 2015. So here is what we chose to do to ensure that we come back to a mold free, critter free boat (fingers crossed). Washed every surface inside the boat down with vinegar. Opened all cabinet doors. Turned off the fridge.

A family's journey through Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean aboard their sailboat. Friday, December 26, 2014. I have attached some photos to show what a miserable time we are having. We brought a bit of Christmas into the boat by converting our white board to a fireplace. Check out Santa in the background. I know that when I get a hotel room for Christmas, I always bring an inflatable Santa along. It really wasn't as exciting as my face would have you believe. Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
