Blue Moose

Follow us on our sailing adventure. Sunday, July 14, 2013. The Moose’s summer home. I was looking after the paperwork end of things when they hauled her. That’s probably a good thing because I always get a little concerned about little things like, oh…dropping her! No worries. Rick drives the crane like it’s a little car and within a few minutes she was getting the pressure wash treatment. The dock lines washed and de-salted. I think we have 1000 and I’m not sure we used 1. Sometimes, but mostly storage.

Blue Moose: The Turks & Caicos

http://www.svbluemoose.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-turks-caicos.html

Follow us on our sailing adventure. Saturday, May 4, 2013. The Turks and Caicos. We figured we had about a 24 hour run, give or take to an anchorage in West Caicos so set our departure time for about noon. A nice sailing day, northwest into the sunset. On occasion one of us would venture down below for a snack, some coffee or a bathroom break. Cricket could either hear us or see the light of the flashlight because we would hear "meow? Can I come out? All of this abandoned. Brian, Sally and Cricket the ca...

Blue Moose: February 2013

http://www.svbluemoose.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html

Follow us on our sailing adventure. Thursday, February 28, 2013. Hanging out in Georgetown. Wifi has been a bit of an issue since we've been here. We can get it on the boat sometimes, but usually not when we really want it. The laptop has also been having some problems. We took it into the local computer shop and thought we had it fixed but it seems it still will not connect to the Internet. So I'll try it with the IPad and Blogsy. I'm sure I could have gone up the mast, but I'm not sure i would have kno...

Blue Moose: March 2013

http://www.svbluemoose.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Follow us on our sailing adventure. Saturday, March 30, 2013. We spent only one night in Vieques and left the next morning for Culebra. We had wind…in the right direction…and we could actually sail. Yay! Well at least for a little while. That fast Banyan boat zipped all over the place and still beat us there powered only by sail. No matter, they scouted out a nice place for the night on the west coast. Blue Moose and Banyan. This one was about 4 feet. Cricket's not taking any chances. We hiked to the lig...

Blue Moose: January 2013

http://www.svbluemoose.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html

Follow us on our sailing adventure. Friday, January 25, 2013. Brian and Dan snorkeling off the dinghy. Over by the little island. Yesterday morning Brian and Dan went out to hunt. We had great plans for lobster cakes or lobster alfredo. Actually lobster or fish anything would have been good. They saw lots of fish but didn’t manage to catch anything. Meanwhile Kathy and I took a walk around the island. Check out the link! Can I keep this? You have to love a beach all to yourselves. Bimini and beyond Part 3.

Water, water, everywhere. I once posted about things I'd prefer not to experience. While living on a boat. Unfortunately we had one (or two) of those experiences occur recently. View my complete profile. Sailing Blogs Worth Reading. Adjusting to Life on the Hard. Don Pedro State Park. Rod and Gun Club. Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Adjusting to Life on the Hard. I'm woefully behind on my posts. So, after living aboard our Knotty Cat for nearly four years at a marina in Florida (with a few small sailing excursions tossed in), and then actively cruising for 5 months, we've become northern landlubbers. I discovered that after using a VHF radio for so long, it took a few days to get used...

View my complete profile. Sailing Blogs Worth Reading. Welcome to the Neighborhood! Don Pedro State Park. Rod and Gun Club. When we set sail in June of 2010 I had planned to keep a detailed record of our live aboard costs. Well, thanks to my very poor job of provisioning we were barely a week into our trip when I threw that whole idea over board. I'm like an ostrich in that respect. A new direction in life. No Bake Blueberry Pie. This recipe is for an open face blueberry pie with filling that is not baked. I’m sure you could make it with other berries too with a little experimenting. If you want to make it vegan, there are a lot of vegan no bake pie crusts online, so I’ll try one of these next time or I may just put the filling into small serving size mason jars for a nice pudding type dessert. Thanks Linda (sv Sapphire) for the recipe. 1 lemon, grated rind and juice. Upon arrival w...
