Sapphire's Sailing Adventures

Tuesday, April 28, 2009. More of Banderas Bay. March 28th we sailed back to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle’s anchorage seeing familiar and new boats. Meeting up familiar friends, and meeting new ones. Of course we went to Philo’s hang out place again to listen to the band, swing the dance leg a few times, and just enjoy the rhythm and music. Leon the washboard player is so amazing, and fun to watch. Friday, March 27, 2009. Since our trip north, back to this area we sure have not moved much at all anymore. We nea...

Sapphire's Sailing Adventures: Zihuatanejo to Puerto Vallarta

http://www.svsapphire.blogspot.com/2009/03/blog-post.html

Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Zihuatanejo to Puerto Vallarta. Welcome to another day in paradise, that’s how we felt immediately being back in “Z-what”. Peter has been here three times before and I once, not by boat though. Now we had the super view being on anchor to the brushy hills with small homes, hotels, condos and the fishermen’s lively beach market. Robin and Ralph joined us for a sail to tiny Isla Ixtapa (aka Isla Grande), where we anchored for two nights. By day the beaches, coral coves and pal...

Sapphire's Sailing Adventures: December 2008

http://www.svsapphire.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 20, 2008. Cabo San Lucas to La Paz. Thanks to our guide book, and the Mexican cell phone we contacted the first yard, and were able to haul out the same day. They did a perfect job putting us on the marine railway, and Peter was able to get to the job a couple of hours before dark. That night we spent high and dry, a really strange feeling, since our bodies still felt the movement. Puncture from the wind vane, were the three men able to pull it on board. That accomplished we set sail a...

Sapphire's Sailing Adventures: Puerto Vallarta to Zihuatanejo

http://www.svsapphire.blogspot.com/2009/02/puerto-vallarta-to-zihuatanejo.html

Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Puerto Vallarta to Zihuatanejo. Besides exploring Puerto Vallarta we also did some repair work on our head sail and the fringed out Mexican flag. On the flag the red fabric edge started to fringe since the flag sometimes hits a halyard or the running backstay. I already had the red fabric, and so it was an easy repair. At the same time we made a small Swiss Flag which we now fly on the port side. On the 21st we took the bus to the airport to pick up our friends. The next d...

Sapphire's Sailing Adventures: January 2009

http://www.svsapphire.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 16, 2009. La Paz to Puerto Vallarta. We ended up hiring a diver, and after a long wait for his service he recovered the items within 20 minutes. While we had to wait Peter rinsed the outboard motor with fresh water and afterwards sprayed it down with WD40. At 13:40, much later then planed we were finally under way thinking to go as far as Puerto Balandra, but then decided to keep going. We were asleep when the New Year was welcomed with fire crackers, and shots. The 163.4 nm, trip was...
