Log of the S/V Sea Schell: January 2015

http://www.svseaschell.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Log of the S/V Sea Schell. Saturday, January 17, 2015. Good-bye beautiful Guatemala. We have loved our stay here in this lush green jungle and beautiful mountains but it’s time to go. If we stay here any longer we will have moss all over us and we will mildew! Was a fairytale. We forgot it was in Guatemala time. The pool being propped up with poles out of the water. They are putting cement under it. Big crack all along the bottom where 2 parts meet. I was using pieces of material that I had to make these.

The excursion ship behind him was local and full of tourists. Kerr Mansion built in 1700's by John Ker, a very wealthy plantation owner. The Eastern shore of Virginia Historical Society took it over. Log of the S/V Sea Schell. Wednesday, March 26, 2014. The San Blas Islands in Panama. The resort we anchored in front of. 3 boats decided it was time to go. We had spent enough pesos and time in one place so we left for the beautiful islands on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Rosario was fantastic. We anchored right in front of a very tropic looking restaurant with a pool, sliding board and other fun things to do. They had a bunch of beautiful birds but I captured him on film. A dolphin showing off.

Wednesday, June 3, 2015. We took a walk with Chester and Karen around town while Michael went for a spare part by bus. Amazingly folks seem to react in totally different ways when they see a large dog, either scared to death or needing to pet and cuddle him! It made for a very interesting morning walk and a little fun too. David, Libby and Brody. Admin building for Customs and Immigration. Pirates bay from the trail. Steep steps to the beach. Wonderful soft sand beach. And a beach bar. We hope everyone's...

Saturday, August 16, 2014. Well we have been in Grenada almost 3 months and it’s been a fantastic time to be here. The carnival is the 9-12th August and it’s a real party atmosphere around the island with all the flights in/out being fully booked. A beautiful caterpillar on our walk. A photo stop on our walk - thanks Maggie. Break of Day Parade. Lots of people participate fully. The 'loud as it can be' music trucks. Yes Gregg and Devin got plastered in used motor oil. Some of the children in the parade.

Friday, November 28, 2014. So the following morning we left for St Lucia and Rodney Bay. Raising the Q-Flag in Rodney Bay. The next day we took a local bus to Castries and visited the local markets. On Saturdays there are lots of stalls selling fruits and vegetables as well as fish, meats and souvenirs. We had a very good look at all the stalls and Liz even found several dresses to try on and eventually bought a very nice one. The very good market. Shame about selling Hawksbill Turtle here. Tuesday, December 23, 2014. We left Nevis for St Kitts a whopping 3 miles away, suffice to say it was an easy sail. We anchored at Whitehouse bay by the old ruins which are now a fancy restaurant/bar SALT Plage but it’s only open some evenings and not for lunch so we missed eating there. Liz at Salt Plage. Moosetracks from the restaurant. Christophe marina mega yacht slips almost finished. Christophe Marina inner lagoon. Liz checking out prices! Waterspout on the right end of these downpours. Thursday, June 12, 2014. Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou. Tyrrel Bay is a wide open bay with great protection from the prevailing easterly winds and NE swells so it is pretty flat as anchorages go around the Caribbean. The anchorage looked very full to us as we came in and we tried a couple of spots before settling, after settling in and talking to others they said it often had 50% more boats in it! Joy, Liz and Steve on Ocean Angel. Awesome T-Shirts for sale. Our first walk was with Barb to Manchaneel Bay. View f...
