Monday, April 27, 2015. Acrylic, ink, and latex on cardboard. I finally made a new painting! I know, right? It took forever. I was. Working in my studio, but on mini paintings and ornaments, mostly. Nothing I felt like photographing. But I am happy with the way this piece turned out. As I continue working smaller, I am excited about the variety of pieces I will be able to create and hang on the wall of my studio. I'm in a show this weekend and plan to bring Mercury Rising. 2744 W. Superior St. 5 pm - 9 pm.

Studio 632F - Blog of Tiffany Gholar, Chicago based artist and interior designer: Kevin Swallow's This Must Be the Place
http://tiffanygholar.blogspot.com/2015/07/kevin-swallows-this-must-be-place.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. Kevin Swallow's This Must Be the Place. Fittingly, I made my way to my artist friend Kevin Swallow's show, This Must Be the Place. Via El train. My commute there, as well as the walk I took beneath the new elevated park. Reminded me of his rugged cityscapes. Water tanks, elevated train tracks, skyscrapers and power lines dominate his work. It's urban, vibrant, and fun. The show will be at Firecat Projects. Posted by Tiffany Gholar. Events exhibits and shows. AAS, Interior Design,.

Saturday, May 3, 2014. August 4, 1993. I just wish there were more books about African-American teenagers, but they’re all about the same ole thang- a boy or girl is such an Oreo at the beginning that their main goal is to BE WHITE. Then, they meet somebody who tells them about African-American history, then, they find themselves. Why is it always the same thing? And why is it always either set in Harlem in the 70’s or else in a poor southern state in the country? It couldn’t even be the same story!

Monday, December 29, 2014. Requiem for a Wedding Dress. If you've been following this blog for a while, you probably know that this is the time of year when I do a retrospective post about all the shows I've seen. And all the art I've made. All of those things taken together are quite disappointing. But the greatest disappointment of all, perhaps the single greatest disappointment in my life so far, happened two weeks ago with the end of my very, very long engagement. Event at Fulton Market Kitchen. ...

Laquo; When you wish upon a squirrel. Ella throws for home, not for the runner ». 800 miles behind us, one year ago tonight. June 26, 2014 11:51 PM. What the hell are you doing? The old man yelled into my window. "You can't park here! What's wrong with you? I had just backed very carefully into a space barely wide enough for the car. My friend Kevin was riding shotgun, my dog Ella in a nest in the back seat. I thought as the man angrily waved me back into the alley,. I thought I had the Chicago apartment...

Thursday, October 10, 2013. Sunflower Slow Drag: Collaborative Painting, Simons and Swallow. A couple of weeks ago, I worked on a collaborative painting with fellow CAB artist, Scott Simons. We didn't discuss much about what we'd do, we just passed the painting back-and-forth until we decided it was finished. The following images show the process as the painting developed. It was passed between us about six to eight times. By Scott Simons and Kevin Swallow. Mixed Media on Panel, 2013. By Scott Joplin....

Sunday, January 27, 2013. Kamera - new painting in progress. I've been working on a new series of paintings where I combine multiple images in a single painting by diving up the canvas or panel. It's given me some creative freedom due to the unlimited combinations of images. The one I worked on today is below. It's oil on panel, 24x30. I started off with a photo:. Then a sketch (adding in some film strips on the sides):. Then transferred that composition to panel using oil paint:. Friday, January 25, 2013.
