Going Down The Match :Stoke City FC. Sunday, October 23, 2011. STRANGE RESULTS TODAY .BUT NOT AT ARSENAL. It seemed this afternoon that the old order had begun to change. From Manchester a result that made me, well, Iām not sure whether it should be happy or sad. Man U hammered 1 ā 6 at home by neighbours Man City.QPR just about able to hold out for a 1 ā 0 win against. 9 man Chelsea, who for once faced a ref with the cojones to do the right thing. Is it an exaggerated parting? Stoke for their part defen...

Going Down The Match :Stoke City FC. Sunday, January 22, 2012. STOKE CITY FC 1 WEST BROMWICH ALBION 2. Now I,ve seen no TV highlights, and I've not listened to any radio punditry, commentary or 'Praise and Grumble',so what I'm about to write is what I think I saw at The Britannia Stadium. Crouchy seemed more than a little out of sorts. It could have been increased wind resistance due to his higher altitude.More likely it was the close attentions of defender Olsson, who,it will be remembered, roughed K...At th...

Going Down The Match :Stoke City FC. Thursday, November 29, 2012. WHICH GAME WERE YOU WATCHING.OR WERE YOU JUST SAT AT HOME? STOKE CITY FC 2 NEWCASTLE UNITED 1. Stoke were good value for this win, although you might not have got that impression IF:. You had watched the MOTD highlights. Listened to any of Newcastle Manager Alan Pardew's sour faced comments. Read the majority of the reports of the match in the press today. As for some of the halfwits who produce column inches for the papers, well we don't r...

Going Down The Match :Stoke City FC. Sunday, January 20, 2013. ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE DAYS. SWANSEA CITY 3 STOKE CITY FC 1. Was it the weather? Was it something missing from the porridge? Is something happening behind the scenes? Whatever it was Stoke were not themselves yesterday. Cameron Jerome skied a ball over the Swansea bar from two yards out,as he found himself on the end of an Etherington cross. He did however clip a ball in for Michael Owen to expertly head home for a 90th minute consolation. Stran...

Going Down The Match :Stoke City FC. Monday, August 27, 2012. WENGER MANIA SWEEPS POTTERIES AGAIN. STOKE CITY FC 0 ARSENAL 0. There is little doubt that Arsene Wenger is a big favorite in Stoke,a real crowd pleaser if ever I saw one.The match itself was something of a stalemate,no goals, and neither keeper seriously bothered. Pennant should have had a penalty when he was nudged over by Gibbs, but Ref Mason saw nothing amiss. Honours just about even against the European Championship qualifiers. Stoke opened...

AUCKLAND
Make time for a trip up The Sky Tower, it's definitely one NOT to miss when you visit Auckland,New Zealand's largest city at a million plus people! At 328 metres (over1000ft) the SkyTower is the tallest man made structure in the southern hemisphere. The 360° views from its three elevated decks are tremendous, and are topped ONLY by the wire guided SkyJump off the tower observation platform (for those brave enough to fly past outside the viewing windows - we were not at all brave!

'Christchurch - New Zealand's "English" City'
We did not see as much of Christchurch as we would like to have done, only having a Sunday afternoon to look around en route to Dunedin. We stayed at the recently refurbished and very comfortable Elms Hotel. On Papanui Road. (Their claim that "Nothing is too much trouble" we certainly found to be true! And Heaven, the Sunday night film on TV was 'Lord of the Rings- Two Towers'. We took a ride on the . Delightful old, but lovingly kept . The Sunday Market adjacent to the Arts Centre is worth a look. Dunedin New Zealand...the University City with a Scottish feel!
Wednesday, 9 December 2009. Dunedin,South Island New Zealand, certainly has a Scottish feel to it from the look of the houses to the tartan incorporated in some school uniforms! Plus the university, which is clearly the heartbeat of the city, and - what a treat - Cadbury's Chocolate Factory (click here for picture). Take the excellent guided tour and in true Cadbury fashion come away with a bag full of goodies! Cadbury Factory,Dunedin,NZ.
Visit New Zealand
New Zealand is a most beautiful welcoming country. Our visit proved to be way beyond our expectations ,which were high! Stunning vivid landscape contrasts, many and varied, and usually coming within short distances of each other. The Kiwis we met are delightful people, always friendly, helpful, interesting and informative. Nothing is too much trouble, and people take pride in giving good service. Clearly its NOT a thing of the past in New Zealand, as it can be in so many other parts of the world!

ROTORUA
We found Rotorua to be a lively tourist city.its many and varied attractions clearly drawing large numbers of tourists from around the world, as well as visitors from New Zealand itself. Lakeside in Rotorua town there was plenty to keep our interest. The elegant black swans, the regular comings and goings of helicopters and floatplanes taking their airtour customers for a sightseeing spin over the mountains. We had seen pictures of Maori longboats, but hadn't realised how long they actually are!

Wai-O-Tapu....Geothermal Reserve, North Island, New Zealand
Wai-o-Tapu (Thermal Wonderland) is a short drive south from Rotorua following State Highway 5. The reserve is a magical mixture of many things volcanic : geysers, boiling mud pools, steaming warm streams, waterfalls ,variously coloured waters and deposits.a brilliant place to stroll about , marvel at the power of nature, and ponder on what is . Going on just beneath your feet!
