TXJS 2015 - A lesson to Educational Systems
http://ng-learn.org/2015/07/txjs2015
TXJS 2015 - A lesson to Educational Systems. Had you entered the theatre at almost any point through out the day, you would have found a hysterically laughing audience. A speaker hopes to be quoted and remembered based on their knowledge and professionalism. Without any doubt all these speakers had that in common. But these were not common speakers. They were funny and creative. In summary, TXJS was educational, informative and funny! If you missed it, don’t worry! Note: The conference starts at minute 38.

The Symmetry of JavaScript Functions (revised)

The Symmetry of JavaScript Functions (revised). In JavaScript, functions are. You can store them in data structures, pass them to other functions, and return them from functions. An amazing number of very strong programming techniques arise as a consequence of functions-as-first-class-entities. One of the strongest is also one of the simplest: You can write functions that compose and transform other functions. A very, very, very basic introduction to decorators. Method. Or we could write a. JavaScript Promises – Gotchas and Anti Patterns
https://expertalks.wordpress.com/2015/04/16/promises-gotchas-and-anti-patterns
April 16, 2015. JavaScript Promises – Gotchas and Anti Patterns. Flatten the Promise chain whenever possible. Straighten multiple nested promises with q.all() and q.spread(). Don’t break the Promise chain. Make sure that the last promise is returned to the caller. Don’t overuse deferreds. Use them to promisify callback functions. In case a function returns a promise, it’s just better to form a chain with that same promise. For the past one year, I have been working on 1self. To the promise(d) land. 8212;...

As part of the requirements gathering for the RDFIO project, I needed to find out a bit more about websites currently using Semantic MediaWiki. One of the presentations at SMWCon was by Yolanda Gil, on the subject of Provenance Bee, an extension of WikiApiary. This pointed me towards a useful source of data on wiki usage. On the software versions used specifically for semantic wiki web...

Om and Reagent
http://theatticlight.net/posts/Om-and-Reagent
I’ve been playing, of late, with ClojureScript front-ends, specifically with Om. Between the two, I like Reagent much better. The short reason why is that it feels much more ‘Clojurish’ and the programming model feels much more accessible, especially to someone already familiar with Clojure/ClojureScript. Om, by contrast, feels like a thinner wrapper over React And even though it does a number of neat things, it’s ultimately more unwieldy. Both of these frameworks are basically wrappers for Reactjs.
