Who Is Swazoo Koolak? I never went to art school, so I never learned how to write the sort of impenetrable prose that is so common in artists' statements. Please forgive the fact that this is in plain English. I try to avoid simply photographing other people's work. For instance, a beautiful garden is nice to see, but it's the work of the gardener. Photographing it would be a little like walking into a museum and taking a picture of a painting. That being said, I am more inclined to make some types of ed...

For over fifteen years (from July 1996 through December 2011) I provided selections from my collection of 78 RPM records. This site was one of the first to offer music from this era on the internet. Thank you to everyone who offered me encouragement over the years, and to those who helped me with discographical and technical information.

Who Is Swazoo Koolak? My name is Jeff Lichtman. I came up with the name Swazoo Koolak. Years ago when I needed some test data for some software I was writing. I decided I liked the name and adopted it as a pseudonym. I live in El Cerrito, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. I do most of my photography locally, although I also shot a lot of pictures in New Orleans when I went there for the Jazz and Heritage Festival in 2012.
