South West Coast Path. Sun up sun down just like the trail, my big test and little tale. Porlock (July 5th) →. February 28, 2010. Blue sky soon hot. At porlock weir the path slips between an inn and hotel up path to meadows then into woodland. it is steep in parts but the winding route is a joy sometimes flanked by old walls and arches,. Reaching the tiny village of Culbone and the opportunity to see its tiny church (rumour has it that this is where the missing upper steeple from Porlock was placed).

The trail continued through an area susceptible to land slips, there were two well signed diversions so no problem. Eventually got to Foreland point, the most northerly point of devon, while sat for a snack some small deer appeared grazing on cliff opposite. Trail down to Lynmouth with its small harbour, cliff railway. And tea shop where i took a long rest as the morning had felt tough.

Warm most of the time, occasional cool breeze. 17.5 miles. The early train to Slough ran smoothly and a short walk with careful attention to the map, well, just gazing around actually got me to the very end of the slough arm of the Grand union canal and away we go to see what it is like. South West Coast Path Blog. Saturday, 6 September 2014. Brixham to St Marychurch. Brixham to St Marychurch - Saturday 6th September 2014. Path Facts - Length: 13.4 miles, Ascent: 1800 feet. Breakfast 8am. Very good veg sausages! Left just gone 9 am. Out through Brixham harbour then some small bays and woodland. Just outside of Brixham was one of the worst signposted areas seen. But the woodland stretch was quite nice. The megatropolis brings inevitable crime:. Walked alongside the old steam railway.
