Councelling is important as it enables the parent to cope with the child disability and involve the parent in the rehabilitation process. Different types of councelling are available at the SWD. They include. Parent counseling mainly by the head of school and teachers. Counseling from the Psychologist. Counseling in Hearing aid maintenance by the Hearing Aid technician. Counseling on speech and language development by Speech therapist. There are one to one sessions and group meetings.

It important for deaf to get a special education because deaf children have two major problems:. 1 - not being able to hear. 2 - not being able to communicate. Therefore, it requires all support services and rehabilitation programs to be able to learn. Special Education is therefore a must for the proper development of the Deaf child. What is speech therapy and why is it important. Speech-language therapy is the treatment for most children with speech (those having problems with production of sounds) and language (difficulty to understand or put words together to communicate) disorders. How to beneficiate from the services of a therapist. The speech therapist at the center provides services mainly to the school children. She works with a child on a one to one basis, with a small group or directly in a classroom.
