GREATLAND SECTION, ALASKA. The Greatland Section of Society of Women Engineers was organized in the late 1980s. Section organization was started independently by Bonita Geary, Professor Joyce Martins of University of Alaska Anchorage and Diana Evans, who had recently moved to Anchorage and had been a member of the SWE Golden Gate Section. The Greatland Section of the Society of Women Engineers participates in various programs to encourage students to perform well in school and educate them about the engineering profession. Some of those activities include organizing workshops for the Girl Scouts, volunteering at the E-Week student competitions, and awarding scholarships.
