Sweat Bread: August 2011

http://sweatbread.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Getting hands dirty in soil and supper : :. Tuesday, August 30, 2011. After Hurricane Irene passed through. I've been looking up green tomato recipes but really you can use them just like you do ripe tomatoes, they just have a tangier taste. Yummy still. I have plans to stuff the rest of our peppers with pancetta and ricotta and spices. It feels good to be back. We got a nice heavy drenching last night. That makes for quick sprouting in our future. Do you have a second go at planting where you live?

Getting hands dirty in soil and supper : :. Monday, August 1, 2011. Happy flowers after a flood of rain. It's good to be back in this space. I'm hoping to make it out in the garden today for some heavy duty weeding. We've had our own personal Shark Week. Here at Cicada Cottage and are slowly working our way back into life. A huge rainfall yesterday has given us a new start in the yard. A huge outpouring of prayers and support has done the same for our hearts (and Lucy's leg). What are you eating? Happy f...

Getting hands dirty in soil and supper : :. Thursday, March 31, 2011. Roasted Cauliflower and Spring Onions with Bacon. I hosted a small lunch with four fine ladies. We had an Asparagus Gruyere Tart and this scrumptious dish. Sweet tender cauliflower, just dug green onions and bacon. Mmmm, bacon. You can't mess this one up if you tried. Roasted Cauliflower and Spring Onions with Bacon. 8-10 slices thick cut bacon. 1 Head cauliflower, stem and leaves removed. 1 bunch spring onions. 3 Tbls Olive Oil. The c...

Mathis Moments: August 2012

http://mathismayhem.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 23, 2012. Last night our primary put on a perfectly pleasant pioneer activity that the kids just loved! The deal was sweetened about 15 minutes before we left when Brandon phoned and let me know he would be joining us! Our little group of Nursery, Sunbeams, and CTR-4 aged kiddos started out at the Nauvoo station where we built temples out of sugar cubes. We then made our way over to Winter Quarters and enjoyed yummy snow-cones. The perilous trek then led us to cross the Sweetwater River.

Mathis Moments: January 2012

http://mathismayhem.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Glasses of his very own. Emerson has a thing for glasses. He is constantly grabbing mine and running off with them. He thinks he is pretty funny. So I got him a pair of his very own (plastic that is). He was pretty cute and excited to actually get to keep them. I just can't get enough of those beautiful blue eyes! Monday, January 30, 2012. Here Donaven is showing off his mad kungfu panda skills. Saturday, January 21, 2012. They want to be just like Daddy when they grow up.

my angle of repose: A New Year's Letter to You: R&R

http://my-angle.blogspot.com/2013/01/a-new-years-letter-to-you-r.html

Friday, January 04, 2013. A New Year's Letter to You: R&R. Esolutions. Those are the words for these first few days of January. They remind me of the time we ran away for a day or two. That trip we took to Asheville! We left our progeny in the capable hands of a few handpicked protectors. That trip where we drove under the Blue Ridge Bridge past the showoff trees and hot coal-colored leaves of the mighty Southeastern Fall. But, more than all that, we'd rather sun. But, a few we did do! And we did it!

Mathis Moments: Texture

Saturday, August 3, 2013. I know what your thinking…. Felicia are you serious it’s August you haven’t blogged at all since Christmas and now you come back with this! Actually I am pretty sure that no one will probably read this other than myself and I am surprisingly quite content with that. Life has been up down and all over the place the past eight months. A few things had to give but I am now ready to come back to this place with my thoughts and I think I know myself a little better than before. I lov...

Mathis Moments: August 2014

http://mathismayhem.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 24, 2014. I decided to take a few before and after photos to really capture the difference. I have to say looking back at the before photos I am quite embarrassed. Brace yourself! Chipping and raggedy bedside table. Pink and blue quilt that didn’t go with anything really and lots of junk piled up that needed to go to storage. (Clothes that didn’t fit and yes that is my trusty puke bowl by the bed. Pregnant girl problems! Drum roll please…. Before (Very sad window seat). A few more details.

Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Sometimes I wonder how I ever manage to get any sleep around here! Sunday, July 1, 2012. An unplanned teaching moment. Sometimes the most powerful way to teach our children to understand a doctrine is to teach in the context of what they are experiencing right at that moment. These moments are spontaneous and unplanned. And happen in the normal flow of family. 1999], 140–41; Marriage and Family Relations Instructor’s Manual. 2000], 61.). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Sunday, August 4, 2013. Harleton VFD Open House. Saturday was a splendid day because I got to go out with this handsome man and the boys to Harleton’s VFD open house. There fire station recently got a face lift and they invited the community to celebrate. And celebrate we did with a ribbon cutting, fish fry, a gator bouncy house, and even snow cones! The night before I completely used this outing as bribery for them to go to bed and it worked like a charm. Entering the belly of the beast. It just flips o...
