Quinoa Salad with Sugar Snap Peas. Recipe is courtesy of Food and Wine. What makes this side a winner? Roasted pumpkin seeds. We had raw in the house so we roasted them with a touch of olive oil, salt, and pepper. 1/2 pound sugar snap peas. 1 1/2 cups quinoa, rinsed and drained. 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil. 3 tablespoons white wine vinegar. Salt and freshly ground pepper. 1/2 cup salted roasted pumpkin seeds. 1/2 cup minced chives. This one is a keeper. Enjoy! Mary and William Brennan.

Stuffed Cherry Peppers with Provolone and Serrano. The peppers and herbs are from our garden. These peppers have a bit of heat but they are not extremely hot. Serve as part of an antipasto plate or simply with a loaf of bread (Recommended Bakery: Clear Flour in Brookline, MA). Hot italian cherry peppers, cored. Provolone cheese, cubed. Serrano ham, thinly sliced. Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Garlic cloves, whole. Rinse and core the peppers. Repeat until you fill a ball jar with the stuffed peppers.

It’s harvest time. Let canning commence! We (the royal "we" as I sit her documenting B's work) have been cooking our garden bounty in batches that are somewhere in the vicinity of 25 lbs. San Marzano and Roma tomatoes. 2 lbs of white onion. 1/2 cup loosely chopped fresh basil. 2 1/2 teaspoons of black pepper. 1 1/2 teaspoon of sugar or honey. 2 1/2 teaspoons salt. 1 1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper. 1 1/4 teaspoon of oregano. 1/4 cup minced parsley. Sweat the onion for 4-5 minutes over medium heat.

It's quick and easy and the sauce can be made ahead of time. I chose to double the recipe and B grilled up some scrod with lime. B noted it would be a good cold salad too.
