I read an excellent article in Parenting Magazine today about perinatal mood disorders and the opening of America's 1st inpatient unit specifically designed for moms suffering from them. What a step forward. Europe and Australia have had units like this for a long time. I'm so thankful for the care that I received at Holland Hospital, but know that our society has a long way to go to really help moms. Wow, it's been a while.

This is Our Life. Friday, April 11, 2008. South Africa is a beautiful place in so many ways, the African people, the children, the diversity of the land, and the wild life. We love South Africa. I made two baby carriers this week. It was so much fun. So here are the pictures. This one is called a scandi mei tai. It can be worn on the front or back. It is also reversible. This is Our Life. Tuesday, May 19, 2009. On the way home from church on Sunday, Kaden exclaimed, "Look, butterflies, so buttery! I love that little guy:). Here are some more of Kaden delights. This originated when he came with me to the OB office for prenatal checks with Jack. The doctor always used a little round tape measure to see how big the belly was getting. One visit my doctor left the room and Kaden exclaimed, "Come back with my baby." Funny boy. This is a good way to remember some of these things.

ONE DAY AT A TIME. Wednesday, May 21, 2008. I have been bit by the bug - or should I say a tick. I have been diagnosed as having African Tick Fever. I have been given some antibiotics and hopefully in a few days I will be feeling better. Scott has two tick bites, but not as severe. Of course the tick that bit me had more bacteria to transfer - YEH ME! You may be wondering how did I get bit by a tick? Not funny. After you are bit by a tick it takes 5 - 7 days to show signs of the bacterial infection.
