sweetwater farm: the nigerian dwarfs
http://www.sweetwater-farm.blogspot.com/p/nigerian-dwarfs.html
This past year we started our herd with two does that are currently in milk. Our goal is to expand the Nigerian Dwarf line in the near future. For small farms, these sweet caprines are a great choice, especially as we get older and are not physically able to deal with larger, stronger goats. Our ADGA Herd Name:. 8226; SWEETWATER NIGERIANS •. Symphony senior doe currently milking. Dance Hall senior doe currently milking. Frieda our newest doeling. 8226; Nigerian Dwarf Goat Association.
sweetwater farm: the chickens
http://www.sweetwater-farm.blogspot.com/p/chickens.html
The number of chickens in our flock remains in a constant state of flux. Typically, we choose varieties that do well in winter since our microclimate includes freezing temperatures and snow. Some of the laying breeds we have include:. 8226; Barred Rock. 8226; Buff Orpintons. 8226; Blue Laced Red Wyndottes. 8226; Cuckoo Marans. 8226; Rhode Island Reds. 8226; Salmon Faverolles. Pins of the "girls" (and a couple of "roos"). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). American Dairy Goat Association.

Homestead Revival: Barn Hop #35
http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2011/11/barn-hop-35.html
Monday, November 7, 2011. This was a wonderful way for me to finish off one of the busiest months I've had in a long time. The November calendar has a lot more blank spaces on it and I'm very thankful. I want to spend some time seeking further what God wants me to do in terms of ministry. And it's exciting to see what He's doing in the lives of others as well! I left the "mostly sunny" beach and came home to patches of snow on the ground. Brrrr! Join The Barn Hop! Jill @ The Prairie Homestead. Please Not...

Homestead Revival: Whole Wheat Scones
http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2012/03/whole-wheat-scones.html
Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Because I grind all my own wheat, I have to search for recipes that allow me to use only fresh ground flour or 100% whole wheat. However, most recipes call for half whole wheat and half white flour. While this may be better than an all white flour product, I prefer 100% whole wheat. Like this whole wheat scone recipe I found at Chocolate and Carrots. When you remove the chocolate chips, you can substitute just about anything you want for different flavors and new scone creations!
Homestead Revival: October 2014
http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2014. Wedding Day. The Ceremony. We are continuing to recap my wedding from earlier this year, mostly in photos taken by. The ceremony took place at the church where my dad pastors. We forgot to get bread and wine for communion, so we prayed instead. We tied the knot. literally. Reminding ourselves for years to come that we are bound together in faith and the sight of God. Posted by Amy Walker. Links to this post. Thursday, October 30, 2014. Wedding Day. First Look. It was worth it.
Homestead Revival: November 2013
http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 28, 2013. Blessings from The Walker Family. Photo by Wendy Carr. Posted by Amy Walker. Links to this post. Labels: At The Homestead. Tuesday, November 26, 2013. I do love fall! Hands down it's my favorite time of year. I think it's all the deep rich colors that I adore the most, but the brisk mornings, occasional fog, and other "signs" of autumn just take it over the top. Really. what's not to love about it? Posted by Amy Walker. Links to this post. Saturday, November 23, 2013. If you ...

Homestead Revival: Benefits And Construction of Raised Beds For Vegetable Gardening
http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2011/03/benefits-and-construction-of-raised.html
Thursday, March 31, 2011. Benefits And Construction of Raised Beds For Vegetable Gardening. For several years, I've grown a portion, if not all, of my vegetables in raised beds. It wasn't until I ran out of space trying to grow enough food for 8 people that I started planting directly into the ground for my tomatoes, potatoes, onions, and squash. But if volume is not an issue, consider some of the benefits of raised bed gardening. 8226; Compaction of soil is not as great and thus boxes are easier to work.
Homestead Revival: July 2015
http://homesteadrevival.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 26, 2015. So I created one. BTW as you scroll through the photos you need to know that editing them takes a ton of time. So in keeping with simplifying my life, I'm using my iPhone, making only a few minor adjustments so you can see what is in the photo (light v. dark; shadows removed), and that's about it. And that folks, is as good as it's going to get. :-). Don't you just love my folding chairs? I know. I'm quite the trend setter! And the light fixture? Part of our goal for selling the bi...
