Recreational Opportunities at Sweetwater. Sweetwater is a recreational gem of Eagle County. The Flat Tops Wilderness is in our back yard. Many visitors and local residents come to the Sweetwater area to play. The area offers a wide range of opportunities including kayaking, rafting, fishing, horseback riding, road and mountain biking, snow sports including cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and other outdoor activities. In Glenwood Springs (35 minutes west) and the Vail Valley Medical Cente. The Gypsum Fire District has identified the need for a fire station in the Sweetwater area and included the concept in its Master Plan. The nearest fire station is located in Dotsero, which is approximately 8 miles from Sweetwater.
