Truth vs. Fact. A second aspect of film manipulation is exemplified by Joris Iven’s 1929 classic film “Regen.” With beautiful shots and harmonious music, Iven captured the beginning, middle, and end of a normal rainstorm. However, unbeknownst to the viewer, this film took almost 4 years to complete! Rainstorms just screams “oh hey this isn’t true.” But does it? It conveys the story just fine, and without the knowledge of the different rainstorms, it would not have affected the storyline either way.

Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival 2013. The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival kicked off a little slow in my opinion. Out of the multiple films and works I saw, only two really caught my fancy and stuck with me by the end of the day. We started off watching a series of student-selected films, made by high schoolers (I think) and younger. Didn’t expect much of that, and didn’t get much out of that either (haha).
