Swimming in Alphabet Soup. Twice exceptional kids: parenting at the intersection of gifted and special needs. Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Impressions from the IEP meeting. I'm still trying to sort out everything from the IEP meeting. The IEP coordinator emailed me the IEP on Sunday at 9 pm All 20 pages of it. The meeting was Monday at 7 am I was up past 11, reading through it and marking it up. She made a note about that on her copy of the IEP, too. Fortunately, I think her only role in Nuthatch's educa...

Swimming in Alphabet Soup. Twice exceptional kids: parenting at the intersection of gifted and special needs. Saturday, October 10, 2009. Trials, medication and otherwise. We decided that switching to another atypical antipsychotic would probably get rid of the TD briefly, but it would probably come back. No reason to think it wouldn't. So switching to another class of drugs makes sense. How can you choose to give your child a medication that can have a lethal side effect? I think so. At least for now.

Swimming in Alphabet Soup. Twice exceptional kids: parenting at the intersection of gifted and special needs. Saturday, November 14, 2009. I didn't want to say anything too soon, for fear of jinxing it. But the problem with science has been solved. We had a meeting at the school on Monday - hubby and me, Epsilon, the intervention specialist, the IEP coordinator, and the assistant principal. We met for a couple of hours, first about math, then about science. Because of scheduling issues, contractual requi...

Swimming in Alphabet Soup. Twice exceptional kids: parenting at the intersection of gifted and special needs. Thursday, November 26, 2009. Thanks be to God for my husband. He knew that, when he married me, he'd get four kids and two sets of inlaws (my parents and my ex-husband's parents, whom I loved dearly). He also knew that my children were going to be challenging, although, at that time, we only had diagnoses for Alpha. He loved me enough to take all that on. Thanks be to God for all my children.

Swimming In A Fish Bowl. Thursday, June 18, 2009. 168;Hay gente que es mas dificil de reemplazar que otra gente¨. Swimming In A Fish Bowl. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Swimming in a Fish Bowl | My life on display

Swimming in a Fish Bowl. My life on display. On April 9, 2014. It’s true that there are bad things going on right now for me financially, but I can tell I’ll be able to pull myself out of the hole I’m currently in. This is a post that I hope to return to, should my mental health falter. I want to tell my possible future sick self this; it gets better. Keep on moving ahead. It is worth the fight. Thank You and an Update. On February 5, 2014. On October 29, 2013. I think I more or less forgot what it was l...

Swimming In Africa

Friday, January 31, 2014. In African schools, as you may already be aware, there is corporal punishment. Of school discipline on the whole continent, even though in Tanzania it's officially banned. It's banned, but the teachers still must follow set rules to administer it.*. At government schools there is a job called Discipline Master, and that is the teacher who regularly administers the punishment. (Although all teachers can do it.). Oys and girls are to be hit on the hand. Every teacher I have met ha...

August 17, 2015. August 17, 2015. In-between the time that I posted last and today, which doesn’t seem like a very long time, we’ve been on vacation and went school shopping! We went to St. Louis for our vacation and we had a lot of fun! We camped out at a KOA campground, which means cooking meals over a campstove and sleeping on cots and an air mattress that deflated in the middle of the night! E with Randy the Snake (plastic) that he now takes everywhere. All four stair-steppers waiting for the bus!

swimming in a sea of stones

Swimming in a sea of stones. Me...
