Swindonbirder: September 2014

http://www.swindonbirder.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Lifers - World Species. Lifers - UK Birds. 2016 - UK Birds. 2016 - Swindon Birds. Saturday, 27 September 2014. An Awarding Winning Country Park. A good walk this afternoon covering both Stanton Park and Stratton Wood, Plenty to see with lots mixed flocks of Long-tailed Tits. And both Willow Warbler. New noticeboards have gone up around both woods. Unfortunately vandals have already damaged the one at Stratton Wood. So mindless! In Stratton Wood a Fox. Was seen and there were a couple of Jays. With the we...

Lifers - World Species. Lifers - UK Birds. 2016 - UK Birds. 2016 - Swindon Birds. Monday, 3 August 2015. Lots of Hoverflies and Flies. A quick walk around a very windy Stratton Wood today. Not too many butterflies but lots of Red Soldier Beetles, hoverflies and flies on the umbellifers and ragwort. Quite a few to identify, but here is a selection of images from today. Quite a few Gatekeepers around along with a few Meadow Browns, Large Whites, Large Skippers and Small Skippers. A moth to ID.

Swindonbirder: July 2014

Lifers - World Species. Lifers - UK Birds. 2016 - UK Birds. 2016 - Swindon Birds. Wednesday, 30 July 2014. A Very Early Morning Start. With Dawn getting up at 3:45am to go to work I managed to get up myself and head off to Nightingale Wood. I arrived just as the sun was coming up at around 5:00am. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I stepped out of the car, but apart from a couple of Song Thrushes. And a the sharp trill of a Wren. The sun starts to rise. Scolding me as I dared to invade their patch a...

Lifers - World Species. Lifers - UK Birds. 2016 - UK Birds. 2016 - Swindon Birds. Wednesday, 27 May 2015. With an opportunity to stretch the legs, it was back off to Stanton Park for another walk around the Pool. The route was the same as our last walk, though we did attempt to walk across the meadow behind the beehives, unfortunately just beyond the field the path crosses a very muddy track. So it was a case of doubling back across the meadow and continue our walk like last time. Further on and the sun ...

Swindonbirder: Another Windy Day

http://www.swindonbirder.blogspot.com/2015/08/another-windy-day.html

Lifers - World Species. Lifers - UK Birds. 2016 - UK Birds. 2016 - Swindon Birds. Tuesday, 4 August 2015. This year has to go down as one of the windiest on record. It was off to Stratton Wood again, to try out some new walks. There are so many paths criss-crossing each other, it's actually quite interesting to see where you come out next. And with that persistent wind, it was also an opportunity to find some more sheltered spots along the way. Anyway here are a few images from today. My 2016 Bird Count.
