Not too many butterflies but lots of Red Soldier Beetles, hoverflies and flies on the umbellifers and ragwort. Quite a few to identify, but here is a selection of images from today. Quite a few Gatekeepers around along with a few Meadow Browns, Large Whites, Large Skippers and Small Skippers. A moth to ID.

Swindon Birds and Wildlife Blog. A good trip to Coate Water today and a first for Wiltshire was this Spotted Sandpiper. I first spotted it on Thursday but to far away to ID, but it was in front of Hide 1 today. Back down at Hide 2 I spotted the Chinese Soft-Shell Turtle. Out in the sun. Below are a few sightings and images from Nigel Sluman, Felicity Cobb, Brian Waller, Matt Pringle and Trevor and Sue Clayson. This morning: Spotted Sandpiper. Bullfinch, Green Woodpecker and Buzzard. Also 2 Brown Hawker. The photo was the best I could get from my phone, handheld, through the scope!

Swindon Birds and Wildlife Blog. I've had a few interesting moths under my bike cover but today something different with a Toad under there. Luckily I managed to avoid treading on it. Usual Goldfinches and Sparrows on the feeders, and a Blue Tit, which has been visiting daily for a week or so. Common Toad (Steve Davies). Who says nothing ever happens in Nythe. One was a Marbled Beauty, the other I'm struggling with but I think its a Willow Beauty. Willow Beauty I think! Marbled Beauty, Bryophila domestica. Pill Woodlouse, Armadillidium vulgare.
