The Community Website for London SE26. History of The Greyhound. April 2, 2013. There has been an inn on this site since 1720, and possibly as early as 1713. Joseph Hyde was the first recorded landlord, mentioned in 1726, and the inn is first referred to as the Greyhound in 1727, and again in 1729 when parish registers record the burial of Joseph Hyde in St Mary’s Church, Lewisham.
