Sunday Supper, Grits, and Champagne. Friday, May 15, 2015. Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce. Even if you don't like asparagus, you will love this recipe! It's so easy and so good. Sometimes I even wrap a few spears with bacon (or put slices of bacon on top) and that makes it extra special yummy! If you use the young, thin spears, you will need to reduce the baking time but the time is correct for the normal sized spears. 1 bunch fresh asparagus, washed and trimmed. 1 Tablespoon soy sauce. 6-8 boneles...

Sunday Supper, Grits, and Champagne. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Chocolate Chocolate Chip Mini Cheesecakes. Following a recent visit to The Cheesecake Factory, I was inspired to bake individual cheesecakes. I was to bring a "small" dessert to a dinner party and this was my contribution. Wow were they ever yummy! For this occasion, I made two versions: chocolate chocolate chip and berry swirl. Both were excellent as proclaimed by my dinner partners, my hubby, and me! 2 cups graham cracker crumbs. In a large ...

Sunday Supper, Grits, and Champagne. Friday, October 31, 2014. Mexican Beef Taco and Cornbread Pie. I was in the mood for tacos, but wanted to try something a bit different. This is an easy, comfort supper that will give you a “taco fix”! What could be better than layers of beef, beans, and corn topped with a green chili and cheese cornbread? It’s sort of like a Mexican shepherd’s pie. I used my 12-inch cast iron skillet for a truly one pot meal. 1 pound ground beef. 2 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil.

Sunday Supper, Grits, and Champagne. Thursday, November 13, 2014. Cheesy Creamy Baked Spaghetti. When I make pasta sauce, I always make a giant pot or slow cooker full; hence I always have left-over sauce and usually left-over pasta! Like the leftover version more than the original spaghetti and sauce! Here's my take on the dish. Of course, if you've already made a big pot of sauce as I did, then use your home made version instead of the jarred sauce, Enjoy! 1 package (16 ounces) spaghetti. Top with half...

Sunday Supper, Grits, and Champagne. Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Carolina Lowcountry She Crab Soup. She crab soup is a coastal Carolina delicacy, that is said to have originated in Charleston, South Carolina (which, by the way, is one of my favorite cities! It’s a bit lighter than many because I didn't use quite as much cream, but just as tasty as any I have ever experienced! You can serve this in a cup as a first course, or in a larger bowl for an entree course. What can I say but Yum! 1 cup dry sherry.

Sunday Supper, Grits, and Champagne. Sunday, July 13, 2014. Those Little Crabby Bites. Makes about 24 bites. This may well have been one of the first appetizers I ever served at a party!
