January 30, 2017. Twas a night in New York City and a privilege to perform amongst genii such as Claire Kwong. For a demoscene party hosted by Emi. September 1, 2016. Harmonies of the Night. August was crazy fun! In between finishing my Weeklybeats. Submissions I dropped by two cool venues sponsoring my favorite musicians and friends. I spent two beautiful nights at the LWLVL. The musicians, visual performers and organizers of LWLVL. A beautifully interface and arcade machine. Maxo, a prophet in disguise.

I'm Sylvester Draggon Jr, a pianist, composer and artist from New York City. I taught myself how to play the piano when I was 4 and spent a large chunk of my childhood listening to Chopin, Liszt and other homies alike. During my teen years, I became infatuated with rhythm games like DDR. In 2006 I created the moniker sylcmyk. And began producing music influenced by video game consoles like the NES, Gameboy and Sega Genesis. I went to Talent Unlimited. And traversing the High Line.

Sylcmyk is a musical experiment influenced by a plethora of apple sauce, funky jazz, classical music, video games from the 90s and kawaii things. It's the moniker of Sylvester Draggon Jr. A classical pianist and composer who spent a large portion of his childhood playing Sonic 3, collecting Pokémon cards, watching Toonami and practicing Chopin. In 2009 he gave his first public performance and has since performed at Webster Hall, Comic Con and chiptune-oriented venues in New York City.

June 8, 2016. Composing this year has proved to be harder than expected. After finishing my piano sonata’s first movement. I haven’t been happy with anything I’ve written. I’m not entirely happy with how my sonata's turning out either! I’ve thought about taking a break from this year’s weeklybeats but I’m afraid of losing inspiration/desire, whichever it might be. Am I being dramatic? But I feel the need to complain; I’m hardly social and I’m reluctantly active on twitter, etc.

August 1, 2016. I was in Japan for a 2-week long cultural exchange program and got back last weekend. While in Tenri I ventured to Nara City, Kyoto and Osaka. My room and futon at Tenri. I miss riding my bike through Tenri's shopping arcade. My $20 Minion burger and beer at Universal Japan. I wish trains like this existed in New York City. Realizing how tiny I am at Todai-ji.
