http://rru.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Saturday, September 13, 2014. I love my sweet wife. I love her more than bacon. That is all (haiku). Why do you hide from me? One and one makes eleven. I love you, base two! What is that, you say? One of these does not belong here? What is that, you say? One of these does not belong here? Welcome to my life! What is that, you say? One of these does not belong here? Stuck in endless loop. What is that, you say? One of these does not belong here?

Roadkills-R-Us: July 2014
http://rru.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Thursday, July 31, 2014. A friend said, "Normal sucks! I think she is close but slightly off the mark. Trying to become something you are not sucks. Trying to make people normal sucks. Worshiping normal sucks massively- more than the output of all the Hoovers, Electroluxes, Rainbows, and Kirbys put together. But if you need to distill all of that down to a few words, a slogan, a reaction, then "Normal sucks! Works as well as anything. Links to this post.

Roadkills-R-Us: October 2014
http://rru.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Thursday, October 30, 2014. There is a war on the English language! Just one attack herein lies:. The setup is almost as identical as last week, maybe a touch farther south.". From this is a weatherperson at reliable source of a news. It driving me as crazy. I'm tired of poor writing from professionals, but I'm really fed up with everything being a "war on" something- Christmas, women, etc. It's ok to disagree; it doesn't mean there's a war on! Whatever...

Roadkills-R-Us: Conspiracy Theory #17: Ugly Cars and Stupid Names
http://rru.blogspot.com/2014/11/conspiracy-theory-17-ugly-cars-and.html
This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Sunday, November 30, 2014. Conspiracy Theory #17: Ugly Cars and Stupid Names. It has been clear for years that the bean counters in the US auto industry successfully banished all the better stylists and brought in surplus Soviet designers who had been locked away in prison because their designs were marginally less boring and ugly than what the party leaders wanted. Only time will tell whether this trend will spread throughout the industry. Just your av...

Roadkills-R-Us: Of Football, Nuclear Physics, and Children
http://rru.blogspot.com/2015/07/of-football-nuclear-physics-and-children.html
This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Sunday, July 19, 2015. Of Football, Nuclear Physics, and Children. The US football season is almost here! Do y'all know how excited I am? Here's a clue. Think of the distance between a proton and a neutron. In a helium atom. That distance is. Bigger than my excitement. This assumes a simplistic view of a proton and neutron as if they were, indeed, simple physical particles with fixed, measurable surfaces. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Sunday, December 21, 2014. Riffing on the Past That Wasn't There. You're at a vow renewal where your spouse knows the bride, but you know no one other than a couple of people sitting on the bride's side. Well, and your spouse. At the reception a videographer asks if you have anything you'd like to say to the bride and groom. The obvious thing- at least if you are me- is to just be honest:. I think my favorite memory of you two is the time we went zip li...

This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Side Effects of Watching Winter Soldier in 3D Late at Night. The latest Captain America. Is, of course, intense. Watching it late at night in 3D intensifies that. How much? Consider the following truths:. The only other guy watching the showing I attended sat down directly behind me, two rows back. I spent parts of the movie waiting for his garrote or knife attack. I needed to scan the parking lot on the way to my car. Krispy Krem...

Roadkills-R-Us: Made in Japan in 1972 (in Texas (Today))
http://rru.blogspot.com/2015/01/made-in-japan-in-1972-in-texas-today.html
This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Saturday, January 17, 2015. Made in Japan in 1972 (in Texas (Today). Deep Purple's Made in Japan. Was released in the US a year after Machine Head. Provided them a breakthrough hit with the much played and much maligned "Smoke on the Water". By all accounts at the time the band was appalled that this song was their biggest hit. I always attributed Blackmore's less than stellar treatment of it on Made in Japan. I really wish for video (apparently there i...

This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Sunday, January 25, 2015. Could tonight get any worse? Some of my friends and family tend toward the dramatic. Almost three years ago one of them posted on Facebook, "Could tonight get any worse? While I realized their pain was real, I was able to look more at the forest than the saplings. Yes You could wake up in a tub of ice to find that your kidneys were intact but someone had replaced your right foot with a second left foot, making dancing awkward.

This is (mostly) my serious side, despite the name. Saturday, August 01, 2015. But, My Heart… by Cathleen Ferose. A friend found words that express my heart so well on this whole issue. Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, and so many others. Remember them, yes. But unless we do far more, there will be far more names to remember. Racism and hatred- especially the institutionalized sorts- have to go, and soon. I waited, on the stairs inside my house, with my phone. For the verdict to go down. This is my America.
