Clothing Exchange

Both in 2007 and 2010 the Clothing Exchange won 'Runner-up' in the Health and Wellbeing section of the Waipa District Community Awards. For many years Bridges has run the Clothing Exchange, as an outreach to the local community. It offers used clothing to anyone who wishes to make use of it, ideally in exchange for used clothing that people no longer have a use for. The Clothing Exchange is located at the Centre at 28 Duke Street and is open on Thursdays from 9.00 am till 4.00 pm.

In order to 'kickstart' the building fund for the building of a community centre right in the heart of Cambridge, Murray and Michelle Smith decided to give away their home valued at over $1 million as a prize in a sales promotion. Because they're so passionate about their community they're taking a piece of NZ to the world and want you to be a part of it. Merchandise are channelled directly back into New Zealand and overseas community projects, starting with the church and community centre in Cambridge.

In addition to exploring ways to engage with projects that benefit the community as well as national causes, Synergy regularly facilitates 'Humanitarian Aid' activity in a variety of places. Teams assist in a range of projects to bring practical relief and aid at a vital level. Our teams have been sent and served 'on the ground' in such places as. Christchurch Earthquake disaster - clean up / taking supplies, provisions. Vanuatu - Providing tank systems for drinkable water supply.

Our society is drowning in bad news and we are about bringing change. There are many problems that are prevalent (but not exclusively). Among Maori in our community. Hopelessness, isolation,. Inferiority, under-achievement and despair prevail in many Maori. Families. Negative influence/peer pressure among youth can. Lead to anti social, self destructive and criminal activity. But it. Isn't hopeless. There are positive contributions being made that are encouraging.

HAPPY FEET' is a new initiative started in March 2014. The Happy Feet foot clinic is a community based, volunteer staffed service providing basic foot care to people who have difficulty caring for or reaching their feet. The clinic is open on. 930am - 11.30am on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Bridges Church, 28 Duke Street, Cambridge.
