SilverLining - about a New England pond: September 2011

SilverLining - about a New England pond. Reflections, by an amateur naturalist and photographer, about pond life. Friday, September 2, 2011. I couldn't wait to consult my Stokes Field Guide to the Birds of North America.

SilverLining - about a New England pond. Reflections, by an amateur naturalist and photographer, about pond life. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Male and Female Baltimore Oriole and Their Nest. The winds and rain of late spring can batter it and knock it about, but it is fastened so well, it remains in place. Above and below are photos I took today of the mother oriole at the nest.

SilverLining - about a New England pond. Reflections, by an amateur naturalist and photographer, about pond life. Thursday, May 26, 2011. And now, much to my dismay, the most common of birds, the American robin, has captured me in a way I cannot believe. It may as well be that I've become struck by the presence of squirrels! How can this ever-present bird have finally be compelling to me after decades of taking it for granted. I believe this is The Year of the American Robin! In the course of three days,...
