A: I didn't start the project, but I'm sure that it was because Perl is quite good at managing text files with relative ease and there was no better candidate at that moment. Disclaimer: I may be on crack, thus the stated here may not be implemented. Support for more stuff? Support for more distros? Implement asynchronous (and cancellable) tasks that send signals when finished, this could be used for operations that may take a long time to finish, i.e. raise an interface.
