Type 3 EV: Air Shocks

http://t3ev.blogspot.com/2006/07/air-shocks.html

Converting a 1969 Volkswagen Fastback to Electric Power. Wednesday, July 26, 2006. I just found some Monroe Air Shocks. Posted by Frank at 6:41 PM. In my Type I Ghia conversion, I upgraded to Type IV torsion bars(from a Porsche 944). They came closest to my rear axle design weight, and should provide a spring rate that's better than overwound stock bars. Best of Luck,. Bellingham, Washington, United States. Converting a 1969 Volkswagen Fastback to Electric Power. Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Rant: The EV Magic Box. I can understand why AC Propulsion is reluctant to produce such a beast: there's not a lot of money to be made in EV conversions, and at that power level they would be competing directly with DC systems that can advertise better performance. Converting a 1969 Volkswagen Fastback to Electric Power. Saturday, December 31, 2005. If my luck and dedication manage to hold out for longer than usual, this space will soon show the progression of a 1969 Volkswagen Fastback from internal-combustion-powered rustbucket to sleek battery-electric runabout. There's some more info and a (high-traffic) mailing list at http:/ www.vwtype3.org/. Posted by Frank at 12:24 PM. Bellingham, Washington, United States. View my complete profile. VW Type 3.org.

Type 3 EV: A Few Pictures

http://t3ev.blogspot.com/2006/01/few-pictures.html

Converting a 1969 Volkswagen Fastback to Electric Power. Monday, January 09, 2006. Thanks to my new camera phone. I now have a few pictures of the "body-in-blue" to show off. The combination of the CCD in the camera and the fluorescent lighting don't really do the color justice, and it's not helped by the lack of chrome, rubber, or glass to set off the color, but you get the idea. Look Ma, No Hands!: January 2008

http://3wdm.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html

Look Ma, No Hands! Building and riding an electric skateboard. Wednesday, January 02, 2008. Killing off this Blog. I'm going to go out on a limb here (not really) and call this blog officially dead. The original 3WDM (since converted to a 4WDM) was stolen almost a year ago, and I haven't been able to get myself excited about re-building it. It may or may not come back in radically different form at some point in the future. Posted by Frank at 5:27 PM. Bellingham, Washington, United States.

Look Ma, No Hands! Building and riding an electric skateboard. Tuesday, August 29, 2006. Great Discussion of Hub Motors. I just found a really good, comprehensive, and understandable discussion of hub motors. Specifically for ebikes) on the UBC Electric Bike Club's site. Actually the whole site. http://3wdm.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Look Ma, No Hands! Building and riding an electric skateboard. Thursday, June 29, 2006. Strain Gages have Landed. I've just received a set of ten strain gages that I'm hoping to use to replace the force-sensing resistors that I've thus-far been using to measure the rider's (my) weight distribution. It takes a good bit of finicky prep work to mount, hook up, and seal the strain gages, but I will post an update when I've got them installed, and another when I've got them driving the servo amp.

Look Ma, No Hands!: March 2006

http://3wdm.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html

Look Ma, No Hands! Building and riding an electric skateboard. Tuesday, March 14, 2006. A similar three-wheeled electric skateboard, with hands-free control. As near as I can tell, the button in the middle is the "go switch" and the brake consists of stepping on the rear fender. Not as intuitive as the 3WDM, but admittedly a heck of a lot cheaper. Looks interesting, but it's not something I'm ready to fork out $130 for. Posted by Frank at 4:59 PM. Bellingham, Washington, United States. My Other EV Project.

About Me - Frank’s Chronologically-Ordered Website

http://fc-o.ws/about

No really, I have nothing against cows. I was born in 1975 in Washington State as the second child of two German doctors, who waited all of two weeks before moving the family back to a village outside Nürnberg, where I spent the next two years learning rudimentary German Language and walking skills. I moved on to studying vehicle design. In a post-bacc program, during which I fell in with a bunch of very cool computer nerds, ultimately landing a job programming web applications in PHP. After spending far...

http://3wdm.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Look Ma, No Hands! Building and riding an electric skateboard. Friday, January 27, 2006. Sometime in the fall of 1995 my friend Craig Meyer. And I were somewhat impressed with a little electric scooter one of the Frosh had put together that he used to run around campus and get to class on. At that point you couldn't just go down to your local auto parts store and pick one up for $99, you actually had to build the thing. The company that was granted the patent was absorbed by ZAP Inc. And apparently they ...

http://3wdm.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Look Ma, No Hands! Building and riding an electric skateboard. Wednesday, May 03, 2006. The good news is the 3WDM has made the front page of Skateboarding Sucks. The bad news is it's tagged as Stupid Shit. Damn, skateboarders can be harsh. Well, as they say, bad publicity is better than no publicity. And what is exactly is a skateboard if not a "Useless Toy"?
