Teaching and Creating ART with all my heART. What it's all about. Thursday, August 13, 2015. At the beginning of the "school" year (get it, ha ha ) it is best to do projects that connect the kids faces to their names. I like the idea of these fish shapes being the border of the names. The Lost Sock : October 2014

http://tabithaannthelostsock.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Teaching and Creating ART with all my heART. What it's all about. Sunday, October 26, 2014. I have 2 very sweet black cats that cross my path all the time. I consider myself very lucky. Or better to say blessed in life and to have them into life. Luck can be silly really if you think about it. This got me thinking (which can be dangerous). Why are black cats considered bad luck? Where did this unfair superstition originate? I looked it up and found out. www.todayifoundout.com. Mrs Bluhm's 1st graders.

This is a book that is close to my heart, written and illustrated by myself, but directly inspired by Christ. It's me, SuperTab. With Him, we can all be Superheros! My oldest stuffed friend, Mindy. The Lost Sock : My Sock Dolls

http://tabithaannthelostsock.blogspot.com/p/my-sock-dolls.html

Teaching and Creating ART with all my heART. What it's all about. I started collecting sock dolls many years ago but could never find any as unique as my heart longed for. So, with an artistic brain, I decided to start making my own. This decision lead to many more ideas and really changed my life. Little did I know that this collection was the beginning of something God had planned for my own life and creative expression. I share some of this in my Autobiographical Comic, SUPERTAB. Owl always love Jesus.

My Blue Art Room: December 2013

http://myblueartroom.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

My Blue Art Room. Sunday, December 15, 2013. Snowy days, medieval times, and still-lifes. December is speeding by, and I wanted to share what's been going on in My Blue Artroom between snow days, field trips, half days, and holiday concerts. Really it's a wonder I can get the kids to finish anything when I barely seem to see them! We tried to emphasize near and far through scale in these drawings. I just realized there was a penguin in the picture above! My 4th graders are learning about medieval art and...

My Blue Art Room: November 2013

http://myblueartroom.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

My Blue Art Room. Thursday, November 28, 2013. That class that is always ahead! My first graders have been working on a texture and landscape project. First we did leaf rubbings, then leaf observational drawings, then a landscape background with a horizon line, and finally painted a tree to glue their leaves onto. So that means when we get back from Thanksgiving I'll have 3 classes ready for a new project and Friday's first grade will have to catch up. But, oh, that speedy Tuesday 1st grade! The orange a...

My Blue Art Room. Monday, July 18, 2016. 2015-16 in review:8th grade. I am going to miss this class so much! An early project in the year was Op art. Students looked at work by Vincent Vasarely, Bridget Riley, and Edna Andrade and analyzed their various approaches to creating optical illusions. We talked about how the brain perceives color and how easily tricked it is, and how to achieve illusionary effects through repetition, contrast, and proportion. As an extension on this project, once the sculptures...

My Blue Art Room: January 2014

http://myblueartroom.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

My Blue Art Room. Friday, January 31, 2014. Tired of snow yet? Maybe never. At least my Kinders aren't yet. We tried drawing self-portraits starting with a directed drawing, then adding color and pattern, and finally printing with a q-tip on top to make a flurry or a blizzard. After 2 years of no snow days, we're getting our fill this year. Another storm may be on the way. I'm not sure what's going on in the one above- happy? I think it's exasperated. More snow! Sunday, January 12, 2014. I'm fascinated w...

My Blue Art Room. Thursday, June 16, 2016. 2015-16 in review: 6th grade. I really love our 6th grade curriculum because it seems the most cohesive. It ties directly in with what students are learning in 6th grade social studies at our school- exploring ancient civilizations and the meaning of culture. There are very clear essential questions: What is culture? How do different people in different times and places express their beliefs and traditions? Byzantine mosaic: Next we explored the Roman empire, th...

My Blue Art Room: One month in

http://myblueartroom.blogspot.com/2014/10/one-month-in.html

My Blue Art Room. Saturday, October 4, 2014. Middle Schoolers are funnyyyyyyyy. I love my kids and their questions and stories and jokes, and generally behavior has been pretty good. I've only given one demerit so far, and had to yell only 2-3 times. I haven't cried out of frustration or exhaustion. I've laughed a lot and worked through some difficult behaviors with a good sense of humor. My 6th graders learned about radial symmetry and created these name mandalas. They first drew their name to fill ...

http://myblueartroom.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

My Blue Art Room. Saturday, October 18, 2014. Names, Names, Names. It only took a month. My seventh graders made their names pop out in one point perspective, shading the perspective lines for atmospheric perspective, and added backgrounds to increase the sense of space. I loved how James, above, put his name in a wrestling ring. These 2 were my superstars. Really good craftsmanship and creative backgrounds. Gabby's on the "road of life", and Gianna is a superhero. My kids are settling into our routines ...
