Tuesday, December 27, 2011. Christmas Wellingtons and Light. Happy third day of Christmas! It’s the day of three French hens…you do know the song don’t you? The “Twelve Days of Christmas”, is a fun song, but perhaps you didn’t realize that the twelve days of Christmas happen AFTER Christmas…Not before like so many retail stores have been advertising. The twelve days of Christmas start with Christmas day (1. Day) and go through the 5. Of December…it BEGINS on December 25. Light…it is a wondrous thing.

It seems like something of yesteryear. People only go to ride the rides (which I would not be caught dead on – just saying honestly) and the concerts, and the food that you only get at the Fair! Some of us though got our start entering these Americana events. My baking started with 4-H. What? You don’t know what 4-H is? So we headed on...

Monday, November 28, 2011. The Tree and Veggie Sausage. Even the dogs help…or better yet…. Sleep as we decorate! Some families have very posh, designer trees right out of a magazine. I think these coordinated trees are very beautiful. Our tree is not one of those trees. Our tree is simple, ordinary,. But OUR living history. A remembrance of people we have known. A treasured collection of creations crafted by our children’s hands. Our tree holds now 29 years worth of memories. Through the picture window!

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Diggin' Good Earth Pie. With the warmth of these last days of January, the Spring Fever bug has bitten me! When this happens, I want to spend my days outside digging in the dirt, clearing the beds of leaves and debris, taking long walks, and soaking up the air! It is intoxicating to see the signs of new life bursting…just odd to see it in January. The rose bush has a flush of new leaves. The daffodils are sending their petals sunward in friendship to our day! I now went digging...
