In 1972, Commonwealth Caribbean leaders at the Seventh Heads of Government Conference decided to transform the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA). Into a Common Market and establish the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Of which the Common Market would be an integral part. Was established on July 5, 2001. To improve trade and investment between the EU and CARICOM and within CARICOM as a result of mproved capacity of IBOs. Promoting partnerships between EU and CARICOM SMEs through the Euro Info Centre network of the European Commission (SME matching). Setting up a network of CARICOM IBOs to promoting EU market access of CARICOM SMEs in key ACP sectors. The activities that are foreseen in 2007 and 2008:.

March 10, 2008 - Kingston/Belize/Boxtel. TACARI EU market access seminar in Kingston. From March 3-5 the TACARI partners Belize, The Netherlands, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname successfully organized a TACARI EU market access seminar in Kingston, Jamaica. This seminar, which took place at the Knutford Court Hotel, concluded the EU market access capacity building activities which have been implemented in the past 10 months in the TACARI partner countries.
