Tails from the Kennel

Tails from the Kennel. Every tail has a tale. There was an error in this gadget. Thursday, August 13, 2015. In April, I decided that I needed to close the kennel for the summer, and possibly forever. In the second week of June, with no dogs, I started thinking about reopening. And I thought about it more. And more. I thought about it pretty much all the time. Why did I want to reopen when I was convinced that closing was the right thing to do? What was the difference? So there you have it. I wish I c...

Tails from the Kennel: October 2014

http://tailsfromthekennel.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Tails from the Kennel. Every tail has a tale. There was an error in this gadget. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Dealing with Grey Areas. This is Carbon. It's almost like she's camouflaged in this tree. As Fall descends upon the area, we lose the vibrant colors that enriched our world. And with the fewer sunny days and increased cloudy days, it is a sure test of our mind and soul. While we have God's word to guide us in making choices that are healthy for us (emotionally and physically), we tend to want more!

Tails from the Kennel: The Power of Pining

http://tailsfromthekennel.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-power-of-pining.html

Tails from the Kennel. Every tail has a tale. There was an error in this gadget. Friday, July 10, 2015. The Power of Pining. Last Friday I went out of town for many hours and Tilly stayed at a friend's house. A few hours after I'd left her, I got a text with this picture:. While I can't always be with Tilly - even though she wishes I would be - I'm glad that the presence of Lord is always with me. I'd be lost without Him. Friday, July 10, 2015. Tails from the Kennel: September 2014

http://tailsfromthekennel.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Tails from the Kennel. Every tail has a tale. There was an error in this gadget. Thursday, September 25, 2014. This past Saturday, Tilly and I represented the kennel at Pet Appreciation Week at our local Tractor Supply. I know what you're thinking - what a glamorous life I lead. Yes, it's true. Even more amazing, Tilly was extremely well behaved at this event, where there was a lot of commotion with all the other vendors, and her very favorite - people! Lots and lots of people! In other words, be careful...

Tails from the Kennel: Confused and Helpless

http://tailsfromthekennel.blogspot.com/2015/06/confused-and-helpless.html

Tails from the Kennel. Every tail has a tale. There was an error in this gadget. Saturday, June 6, 2015. Captain is four years old - I found him on June 1, 2011. I was just getting ready to take a bike ride when I stopped because an ear bud popped out. I was at the very edge of my property and then I heard it. The dreaded, "mew.". I went to the other side of the road and there he was. Have you ever felt that way? The Good News is the same today as it was then. You are wanted by Jesus. He provides...That'...

Tails from the Kennel: It's All Relative - But No, It Isn't

http://tailsfromthekennel.blogspot.com/2015/05/its-all-relative-but-no-it-isnt.html

Tails from the Kennel. Every tail has a tale. There was an error in this gadget. Monday, May 18, 2015. It's All Relative - But No, It Isn't. Look - it's Tilly. In my car. With. Amazingly, she lived to tell about it. She's lived to tell about many car adventures because - when the weather is right - she loves to go places with me and hang out in the car. I made the terrible mistake of saying that was not the case. On a sixty degree day. But what is the spiritual parallel? Monday, May 18, 2015. Read storie...

February 22, 2015. Eliza C. (Fuller) Meek's Estate - 1909-1911. When, great-great grandmother, Eliza C. (Fuller) Meek. Died on July 2, 1909, she left no will. Of her seven children, five were living and named in the letters of administration as heirs, and son, David, was named as administrator. Two sons, William Oscar and Solomon predeceased their mother. Also given were the addresses of the heirs, which was a good clue to further research. Who was informed of Eliza's passing? Labels: C. D. Hitt. James, ...

March 10, 2015. Seth Eugene Meek - son of Hiram and Mary Meek. Great-Grandfather Samuel Meek's brother, Hiram Meek, of Mark Township, Defiance County, must have really emphasized education in his family, as well as a sense of adventure. Almost all of his children were either involved with teaching in some way and/or traveled to the West to better themselves or both. As part of his education, he was sent to Washington DC in 1884. Seth was, in fact, a prominent ichthyologist (a scientist who studies fish),...

Bitter Train: Need for Mead

http://bittertrain.blogspot.com/2014/12/need-for-mead.html

Still home. Still bitter. Monday, December 1, 2014. Last Spring, a friend took me to a local meadery. At first, I thought she said, "Meatery" and was wondering if I would like being in a place with that much meat around. But once I figured it out, it was quite wonderful. Complex and amazing flavors, courtesy of our good friends, the honey bee nation. But that didn't stop us. We went for it anyway. And here it is transferred into its home to (hopefully) begin to bubble and ferment:. Yes, another blurry pi...

Still home. Still bitter. Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Spring 2014, an Update. It's still Spring. It's still 2014. And, it's still cold. But, a local park's wildflowers were up, so I'm assuming that the season will progress. Eventually. In these difficult days of being teased by the calendar, it is necessary to make one's own fun, even out of the dreariest of circumstances. That's why I got this last week:. Bitter Train: June 2014

Still home. Still bitter. Friday, June 20, 2014. Summer Adventures and Unexpected Treasures. Just getting out of town and looking at new things stimulates the brain, making life that much more interesting. This little gem is a bird's nest ball. It is the dribs and drabs of alpaca yarn stuffed into a ball for birds to gather to feather their nests. Wouldn't that be pretty (and soft! Monday, June 16, 2014. Still home. Still bitter. Monday, June 24, 2013. What's Your Summer Bucket List? Or maybe "Basket" list? Summer is fleeting and needs to be focused on many things, but certainly fun must be one of them. For that reason, I felt the need to make a Fun Things to do This Summer list. Among them was basket weaving and you see the fruits of my labor above. That's right, I made that last Saturday. Impressive, yes? Not if you saw the sample basket, but I didn't post that picture. Bitter Train: Ode to a Pet Rock

http://bittertrain.blogspot.com/2015/04/ode-to-pet-rock.html

Still home. Still bitter. Monday, April 6, 2015. Ode to a Pet Rock. With the passing of the "inventor" of the pet rock, it's time to consider it's impact on society. I remember it well in the early 1970's. I was one of those kids who really wanted a pet rock - just like everyone else. Then it was explained to me that it was just a rock. It didn't do tricks. It could not be taken out for walks. That's when I learned what a "fad" was. And a "scam." Suddenly, consumerism was suspect! Did you have a pet rock?

Still home. Still bitter. Saturday, September 7, 2013. End of Summer, but Still Celebrating. Ah, the Gold Coast, never a dull - or weird - moment. Is it an actual sick reptile or a strange dietary gimic? Either way, t'aint natural! The Gold Coast is close to many fine "regional" garage sales, and this past Labor Day, I found the Deal o' the Day for a mere $2:. That's right - end of Summer fun for all! Still home. Still bitter. Thursday, March 20, 2014. Spring 2014 aka "Like We Thought It Would be Warm". Okay, so the first day of Spring didn't really turn out like one may hope. But, it wasn't as bad as this picture, taken off my back porch. Looks like someone needs some gutter work done. The grand marshal went by on possibly the nicest flat bed truck bed I've seen, complete with what looked like high school marching band players. Eventually, something cool crept by. Wednesday, March 12, 2014. The only ...

March 28, 2006 - October 18, 2011. Good-bye Bruce. We miss you already. Sorry you had to leave so soon. We will always remember the happy and fun times we had together. You were a great companion and we were so proud to have you in our family. Rest in peace Bruce. We will always love you. Saturday was the third 5 Peak race, and in my mind it was the best one yet. Tails from the Lab

VIDEO: Heart of The Labs. Posted on: Tuesday, June 3, 2014. We truly love what we do for a living. At the center and heart of who we are as The Labs are three things: a love and appreciation for companion animals and their people, to be of service and give back to our community and to have fun in our professional lives. These three things go hand in hand with one another, and the balance of the three inspire us to create work we are proud of and have a great time producing. This gorgeous film is the resu...
