Dapple of My Eye

Dapple of My Eye. Tails" of a 20-something and her grey gelding, Graf Granite. Sunday, May 3, 2015. The Benefits of Friends. As I mentioned in my last post, I've recently re-connected with a high school/college friend, A, who rides and suggested that I ride with her trainer. I had a lesson last week and it was wonderful! I have one scheduled for next Friday also (that will certainly get you through a work week). What is even better is that my coworker, T, is also riding with A's trainer. Yay for big feet.

Dapple of My Eye: April 2012

http://tailsofagradstudent.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Dapple of My Eye. Tails" of a 20-something and her grey gelding, Graf Granite. Monday, April 30, 2012. Positive (and large, daisy cutting) Ones! Our new trainer Heather got on last weekend while I was out of town (at my parents' celebrating my. (gulp) 26th Birthday). She reported that my horse was being a bit of a jerk and he hated his bit, but she got some good work out of him after about 15 minutes. Don't you love progress? Here is to continued success and BiG Strides :). Thursday, April 12, 2012.

http://tailsofagradstudent.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Dapple of My Eye. Tails" of a 20-something and her grey gelding, Graf Granite. Monday, April 27, 2015. Guess who got a new computer for their birthday, upgraded their phone (decent camera), AND started taking lessons again? So that lovely mix of new technology and something to blog about means, just maybe, I'll try this blogging thing again. I've missed it of course. So, a lot has happened since we have chatted last. But maybe, at the same time not so much has changed. Any guesses on his breed? Other tha...

Granite at Camp…Entry One May13, 2012. Hello to all of Rachel and Granite’s blogger friends! Granite successfully arrived at summer camp yesterday. Sara | Adventures With Hobbes

https://adventureswithhobbes.wordpress.com/author/sarae315

Slightly obsessed, totally in love with my OTTB: retraining and figuring it out along the way. Hunter Paces, a Horse Show and Did I Mention HUNTER PACES? Asymp; Leave a comment. Hobbes says let’s do this! Hunter paces are our new favorite thing, the picture above is from our first one and as you can see we were both pretty thrilled about it! But as luck would have it by the time we arrived on Sunday morning the skies had cleared and the footing was surprisingly good. Hobbes worked hard but I know he love...

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: Riding in a sauna

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2013/08/riding-in-sauna.html

Saturday, August 3, 2013. Riding in a sauna. S texted me when she got back from the show to see if I wanted to set up a lesson - so I went and rode this morning. I don't recommend riding in a sauna. My car said it was only 84*F when I finished, but it sure felt a lot hotter between the humidity and the heat index. Yuck. I know I know what to do and how (and so does S), I'm just rusty. I'm exhausted but feeling great. And, w. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Florida, United States. She Moved to Texas.

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: Lesson #2

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2014/10/lesson-2.html

Friday, October 10, 2014. This week's lesson was very similar to last week's. I did quite a bit of trotting and cantering around, and some ground poles at the trot and canter, as well. The main difference was she had me doing some strengthening stuff at the trot.like down-down-up (DDU) posting or up-up-down (UUD) posting. Ouch! I saw this on Facebook this morning, and it's pretty accurate, other than the cowboy hat:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Florida, United States. View my complete profile.

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: Thursdays in October

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2014/09/thursdays-in-october.html

Thursday, September 25, 2014. It's been a crazy-busy couple of months. In August, I went to the NC mountains to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends and family. We rented a cabin and stayed there for 8 days. It was drizzly most of the time, but not enough to prevent us from going out and exploring, enjoying the scenery, etc. I really love it up there, no matter what the weather! It took me a few seconds to go through the range of emotions, but once I muddled through the shock, I said yes! An Image of ...

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: First lesson in over a year

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2014/10/first-lesson-in-over-year.html

Monday, October 6, 2014. First lesson in over a year. Last Thursday, I busted my butt all day at work to be sure I could leave at 5 to head over to the barn for my lesson. (Leaving at 5 has not been the norm lately! I ran downstairs, changed and then headed that way and I was pleasantly surprised that it only took me about 45 minutes. The map said 35 minutes from my office, but you never know. Florida traffic is pretty bad. Anyway, L told me I could walk for a bit because she wanted me to canter in both ...

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: Imagine that...

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2015/06/imagine-that.html

Friday, June 19, 2015. If I don't subconsciously drop my eye at the base of the jump, I get a pretty consistent distance, every time. Last night, C was out of town, so my new lesson partner and I rode with A, who was just hired by L, as a slightly more advanced instructor. The point was to take poles and/or jumps in stride, instead of worrying so much about finding the right distance. If the pace is consistent, this happens naturally. Moral of the story: Don't look down! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: The saddle question (this might be a slight rant)

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-saddle-question-this-might-be.html

Tuesday, August 13, 2013. The saddle question (this might be a slight rant). For my first lesson with S, back in April/May, I did not bring my saddle with me. I assumed that she would provide one, because that had always been my experience before: ride a "school" horse, use a "school" (or the owner's, etc) saddle. She immediately asked me if I had a saddle. I said yes, but had not brought it. So, she provided something. This is not *my* saddle, but this is what I have. And she told me again that it doesn...

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: Happy New Year! (A few weeks late:))

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2015/01/happy-new-year-few-weeks-late.html

Thursday, January 22, 2015. A few weeks late:). I rang in the new year with a riding lesson on New Year's Eve and then playing games and watching movies with my mom and fiance. :). My lessons lately have been even more about pace and consistency. I've been trying to get AJ to open up his stride so that he is more back to front with more impulsion, instead of just flopping around and going faster, which requires basically a collected hand-gallop all the way to the bases of the jumps. So its come to my att...

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: AJ vs Beau vs Viktor

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2015/03/aj-vs-beau-vs-viktor.html

Thursday, March 19, 2015. AJ vs Beau vs Viktor. Is about 15, I'm not sure if he's a thoroughbred or appendix, but something along those lines - tall (maybe 16hh) and lanky and thin-skinned. He is a light bay with a blaze and no other markings. He's also a cranky "old" man (I say "old" because 15 really isn't old! He was a good ride, lots of fun and lots of personality. Just a happy-go-lucky kind of young horse. Unfortunately, I only got to ride him once because he was sold a couple of weeks later. A Fat ...

It's a Good Thing You're Cute: 3 years

http://promisebaby.blogspot.com/2015/07/3-years.html

Monday, July 13, 2015. This past Saturday marked 3 years since I said goodbye to Promise. It's really had to believe it's been that long.some days it feels like just yesterday and others, it feels like a lifetime. I suppose the one thing I've learned between losing Harley, my grandmother, and Promise, is that that particular aspect never really changes. I found that I dwelled on the loss a little less this year. I took a few moments to remember her, and then went on about my day. Florida, United States.

Saturday, March 16, 2013. Great Gray Owl visits Homer! We were getting ready for company on Friday morning when our friend Joan called telling us there is an owl perched on a tree along West Hill Rd. She said we will know where he is by the group of photographers along the road. So…I throw on a fleece top and in my jammies, clodhopper shoes with no socks, baseball cap with big lens we drive off!
