Tuesday, 22 September 2009. Surely they'll get used to *it*? Sadly not for many fearful dogs. As readers of this blog will know, I have a special interest in fearful and/or reactive dogs since being introduced to this by my own Finn. A chance conversation with a friend over the weekend raised the possibility that simply by exposing a dog to their fear-inducing stimuli, they would "get used to it" or in more technical language "habituate". Links to this post. Friday, 11 September 2009. If you'd like to at...

Monday, 26 October 2009. This isn't a full blog on the subject, though its a topic very dear to my heart! Just a collection of postings that I've been putting up on various forums, most importantly to discourage the use of ACP as a 'treatment' for noise sensitivity. British Small Animal Veterinary Association position statement. And a re-post of some info I added to a thread in case it helps. What I've found really helpful for him has been. Working through the relaxation protocol (can email you a copy).

Tuesday, 16 April 2013. Nk, confidence, mistakes and dog training! Last night was something of a revelation for me, a real lightbulb moment. And yes, I was at a P! Nk concert, the atmosphere and stage show/dancers/acrobats were amazing. Yet the part that is still resonating in my heart was when P! Nk went ahead and played piano live (second time ever on a tour). She was good. And she messed up a little, in public, yet laughed and carried on. Relevance to dog training? Links to this post. A working border...

Sunday, 8 September 2013. TD Rally Trial report and some musing on good preparation and connection. Were we lucky, or was it something more? On Sunday 25th August, I drove around 130 miles after getting up at 5am to compete in a TD Rally trial with three of my collies. It was our first trial as a competitor and despite my nerves we managed six qualifying rounds with very respectable scores. This blog is a reflection on our. Each round is scored out of 200 (or 210 with a bonus exercise) points and you los...
