White Chicken Chili | Carpé Season

Carpé Season" rel="home" Carpé Season. Living seasonally in an underseasoned world. December 3, 2013. What I’d like for you to think is that we’re happily preparing for the Christmas season and eagerly anticipating this seasonal snow storm, all cozied up on our couch, sipping hot chocolate and stringing popcorn to hang on our tree, while hand-making all of our gifts and singing Christmas carols. If you zoom in to south minneapolis, you can see Eric feverishly raking. (Image from weather.com). Time of the...

KNEAD...WEAVE...GROW: SPINACH AND PESTO (and a Ballerina)
http://joanne-kneadweavegrow.blogspot.com/2015/05/spinach-and-pesto-and-ballerina.html
Bread, fiber, children, winter, sun, garlic, some of what I love. Thursday, May 28, 2015. SPINACH AND PESTO (and a Ballerina). Elsa had her recital on Saturday, a lovely little ballerina she was! Jonel and Andy grow spinach in a cold frame and it has been prolific, and I, thankfully have been a recipient of much of it. Huge, sweet leaves. Served with linguini, pesto, and grating of cheese. It was so fresh and decidedly delicious. Fresh from the garden lettuce salad. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

KNEAD...WEAVE...GROW: September 2014
http://joanne-kneadweavegrow.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Bread, fiber, children, winter, sun, garlic, some of what I love. Sunday, September 28, 2014. Today, Sunday, is another glorious day. This autumn, at least so far, is absolutely stunning, and the weather has been the best we've had all year. I have just returned from a bike ride where this tree is only one of many. Whose colors are unbelievable. The reports are that Autumn's peak will not be until the 3rd week in October, but that is really hard to believe at this point. Links to this post. Each year I w...

Carpé Season" rel="home" Carpé Season. Living seasonally in an underseasoned world. Sweet Potato Black Bean Tacos with Cabbage Lime Slaw. November 29, 2012. I don’t really like beans. I know, I should. Everybody should. I mean, there pretty much the world’s most versatile, nutritious, and inexpensive food. Sure, I sneak garbanzo beans into my diet with hummus and falafels. 8230;but as for the rest of the bean family, I just can’t get into them. It’s their texture, you know? I’m growing here, people.

Wisconsin Sunrise: I'm in the Mood for Hearts
http://wisconsinsunrise.blogspot.com/2016/12/im-in-mood-for-hearts.html
Thursday, December 15, 2016. I'm in the Mood for Hearts. Those of some natural hearts that turned up in my life. Spud Heart, from a bag of potatoes, Strawberry heart, from a box of strawberries, and Stone Heart, in the desert in southern California. I have other hearts, earrings, a necklace, more heart shaped rocks, and my best heart, the one beating inside my hubby's chest. The locked entry doors, frosty from cold. In the state of Indiana this was a big NO-NO! Again we laughed about when we tried to can...

Wisconsin Sunrise: November 2016
http://wisconsinsunrise.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Day 30: My Word for 2017.Goals. 2016 was a year of change, of going into debt because we moved 2,300 miles to a new state and had to wait a month for my hubby's background checks to finish so he could begin working. When you've lived in two previous states in two year's time, background checks take longer. My car will be paid in full in just three months, and it still runs great. It's been across the US from Indiana to California and from California to Wisconsin, over lo...

Wisconsin Sunrise: September 2016
http://wisconsinsunrise.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2016. Needless to say I spent the next few days preparing paperwork and printing pictures. We were separated and interviewed individually. Scary, right? Well, apparently they wanted to hear it from each of us why we moved from Indiana to California and then to Wisconsin in such a short time, and to compare our answers to confirm we made the moves together. Mold was growing around the windows on your car? And why did you leave Indiana? The humidity" I answered. My daughter lived th...

Wisconsin Sunrise: April 2016
http://wisconsinsunrise.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 23, 2016. It was a nice day for a walk, but I'm pretty sure we did too much and hubby will be tired at work. I took some pictures and then left my camera in the car, so I'll get the pictures tomorrow after hubby gets home. I continue to struggle with my blood sugar. I joined a forum on the American Diabetes Association's website. I'm getting some helpful advice. This is truly not easy, and for anyone who has needed to struggle with major diet changes, my heart goes out to them. Honestly, ...

Wisconsin Sunrise: January 2017
http://wisconsinsunrise.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 29, 2017. How is it Possible. When the sun hasn't shone since January 8th. When immigrants with visas can't come home. When the threat of war looms in the Balkans, or anywhere, for that matter. Links to this post. Tuesday, January 24, 2017. To Smell or Not to Smell. I do OK with most candles, unless they are very strong. I bought one, which I didn't like the look of when it was plugged in, so I returned it. I bought a second one that looked like it should be gorgeous, but it was ugly ...
