May, a Corner Brook native, won his fourth-straight Marble RV Corner Brook Triathlon men’s crown with a final clocking of two hours, three minutes and 13.6 seconds Sunday afternoon in front of about 200 triathlon supporters along the race route. Of all the rewards Bruce Hamlyn has received from the sport of triathlon, passing on his passion for the race to his daughter Allison may be the most gratifying for him. Nothing could be more important than bringing it to my own daughter, said Hamlyn. Encouraging other people to have a better lifestyle and take all the good things that triathlon does give, that’s what it’s all about for me at this stage of my life.

Female triathlon champion praises other women for having the guts to compete. Sue Rodgers was all smiles after winning the women’s crown at the 2014 Marble RV Corner Brook Triathlon, but it was the presence of other females on the course that gave her the most satisfaction on a hot Sunday afternoon. Rodgers won the women’s title with a final clocking of 2:33:09.03, which was good enough for eighth spot overall in a field of 18 in the main event of the day.
