Ok, so listen to how AMAZING this is, for my AP english class final we all got to choose a book to read and do a project on, the book i chose was Siddhartha and the project is making a mix CD. Marillion - Cover My Eyes. It's great to find a Hermann Hesse community! I'm slowly working my way through Hesse's oeuvre. I read a lot of books, but only in Hesse's work do I find the (in)completeness of reality; Hesse writing about working in the garden is more fascinating than any story rife with action, I think. But I came to Hesse via his short stories since I'm a complete short-story nut. I like the way he can make me cringe,. I frankly don't know where to start :). Post a new comment.

Charles Gounod: Faust (Act III). I'm delighted to at long last find a community devoted to Hesse on LJ! Hesse was probably the most influential writer I encountered in my teenage years, and by the time I went to college, I had read everything of his that was available in English. I still return to his work regularly, especially his poetry, and reading Hours in the Garden. Another on-going project is an opera based on Narcissus and Goldmund. Which I might just finish some day.
