When we retired in December 2011, it quickly became apparent that Ian would need some sort of project to fill the long days while I was busy gardening, cooking, reading, playing tennis, walking, doing zumba, visiting the family and going out for lunch with my friends. The Delaware River and Strolling along the Prom, Cape May | talesfromtheamericanwaterways

http://talesfromtheamericanwaterways.com/2015/06/13/the-delaware-river-and-strolling-along-the-prom-cape-may-2

A sojourn by boat through the Eastern USA and Canada. Bound for the Jersey Shore. Margate City to New York →. The Delaware River and Strolling along the Prom, Cape May. Posted by Jane Ainsworth. My hopes of a spectacular sunrise as we travelled down the Delaware River were disappointed when the day dawned grey, but at least not cold. We had to get up at the crack of dawn, I had been told, to take advantage of the prevailing tide. Arriving at Cape May in a sea fret. Note dophin. Reedy Island to Cape May.

A sojourn by boat through the Eastern USA and Canada. Daytona Beach and an 18th Century Fort. Posted by Jane Ainsworth. Daytona Beach had not really sounded like our kind of place when we consulted the Lonely Planet Guide, but it was a convenient place to stop, so we anchored just off the channel in the waterway, away from the beach itself. It wasn’t really as I had imagined – very few high-rise buildings, and no evidence of the Daytona 500 2014. The rowers coming back at 7.30. Washington Oaks State Park.

A sojourn by boat through the Eastern USA and Canada. Two Days in New York and a Trip to Remember up the Hudson River. Catskill to Coeyman’s Landing →. Stormy weather and Springwood, the home of a great man. Posted by Jane Ainsworth. After four days in the marina. A folk festival, it was time to economise with a night or two at anchor, and Ian thought he had identified a peaceful and sheltered anchorage at Cornwall-on-Hudson, about 20 miles north of Half Moon Bay. Half Moon Bay to Rondout. The next day w...

A sojourn by boat through the Eastern USA and Canada. Stormy weather and Springwood, the home of a great man. Boston and the Brexit Blues →. Catskill to Coeyman’s Landing. Posted by Jane Ainsworth. A marina owned and operated by a retired civil engineer had obvious attractions for Ian, which is how we found ourselves staying for three nights at Sue Berry’s dock, a quarter of a mile downstream on the Catskill Creek from Catskill itself. Rondout to Coeymans Landing. Carina at Sue’s dock. There are lots of ...

A sojourn by boat through the Eastern USA and Canada. Postscript – Juniper Springs. Posted by Jane Ainsworth. Our breakfast at IHOP didn’t materialise, mainly because we didn’t pass an IHOP en route to Ocala National Forest, and we had to content ourselves with sausage sandwiches from the grocery/deli at Salt Springs, eaten in the car. At $1.99 it was value for money, at least. The swimming pool at Juniper Springs. Carolina jasmine growing through the trees. Small fishes and one of the springs. We had a ...

Review of the Year. View my complete profile. Friday, 31 December 2010. Review of the Year. Review of the Year. The following weekend I played at Kidlington in Oxfordshire, which is a tough tournament since the bottom section is under 145. I proved that players rated 130 are really perfectly beatable. I got 3 draws against strong players, and two of those were from good/winning positions. We can forget about my one dire defeat! Much the same thing happened in Nottingham the following weekend. Monday, March 12, 2012. And the race is on. Why do I do this to myself. I'm still the newsletter editor for CaRWA which I love due to interesting articles and other perks. Just one more year left of it and then I'll miss the extra secret board meetings, an outsider again. ;). I also signed myself up to do a Communications Degree online. 2yr course but afterwards I have a better chance of being able to work from home going what I love - writing. Someone check me into the mental home so I can get a break!
