Tales From The Mid-Pack

Tales From The Mid-Pack. The athletic adventures of a true weekend warrior. Monday, June 13, 2011. I've wanted to do a long-distance running relay race for quite a while now - we actually submitted an application to the mother of all relays, Hood to Coast, two years ago, but didn't get selected - and this past weekend I finally got to experience one. I got the slap bracelet from Cath for the last time at around noon on Saturday, and made my way south from Northwestern University to the finish line, a dis...

Tales From The Mid-Pack: April 2011

http://talesfromthemidpack.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Tales From The Mid-Pack. The athletic adventures of a true weekend warrior. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Otherwise, things are pretty low-key here. Unfortunately, our sprint tri in Galena may have to get scrubbed - Drew has had an unexpected family issue arise, and I'm not sure I want to expend the time/$ $ to go up there alone, but we'll see. But Ragnar is still on the agenda for June, and I'm looking forward to that as something new and exciting. Http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Monday, April 18, 2011.

Tales From The Mid-Pack: Wrapping up week 7

http://talesfromthemidpack.blogspot.com/2011/05/wrapping-up-week-7.html

Tales From The Mid-Pack. The athletic adventures of a true weekend warrior. Friday, May 27, 2011. Wrapping up week 7. Hoping to get outside on the bike this weekend, which would be a first this year. Pretty pathetic that my bike hasn't seen the pavement since, oh, September maybe? I can't even remember. I have two and one-half hours on the plan, so I'm hoping the weather will cooperate. That kind of time on the trainer is pretty grating. Hope yu'uns have a nice Memorial Day weekend. Wrapping up week 7.

Tales From The Mid-Pack: Weekly schedule

http://talesfromthemidpack.blogspot.com/2011/04/weekly-schedule.html

Tales From The Mid-Pack. The athletic adventures of a true weekend warrior. Friday, April 15, 2011. One of the great things about training for an Ironman is that you never need to spend any time wondering what type of exercise you want to do on a given day. The plan tells you what you're doing. And for how long. And how hard. This can, of course, also be a huge draw back, if you just don't feel. A typical week looks like this:. Tuesday = swim/run (distances and times vary as the plan progresses);. Thats ...

Rainy Runs: January 2011

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 20, 2011. Graeme and I have been talking about learning to cross country ski for some time now. A few people had told us about the Learn to Skate Ski package at Cypress Mountain, which is 5 progressive lessons, over 5 weeks and they sounded really good. Luckily for us, Cypress is close to home and easily accessible on a weeknight. Tuesday nights also happens to be when a local race series takes place and it is fun to watch those guys! Maybe with another year (or few) or practice! With b...

Rainy Runs: AST-1

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2011/01/ast-1.html

Sunday, January 16, 2011. With backcountry skiing you can never be too prepared or too educated. Graeme and the people we ski with have all done avalanche training and continue to take courses. In general they won't go with anyone who hasn't. I've done some basic training with them and have attended some talks on recognizing snow conditions, but I needed to take the avalanche safety training myself. I don't think I have ever been as wet as I was today. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Rainy Runs: Embracing Winter

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2011/02/embracing-winter.html

Monday, February 28, 2011. Luckily the expected winter snow hasn’t really materialized, but this past week we did have real snow. Between that and the cold and the rain, I have had enough of weekday trainer riding to want to do that on the weekend too. With a snowy weekend on tap, we decided to make the most of it. Of course, it's Monday and the snow is quickly melting away. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). There was an error in this gadget. Fun reading (and fun people). A Clearing on NoMoSolo.

Rainy Runs: November 2010

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Then twice a week, then once a week, and now I'm at once every 10 - 14 days or so. But still not running. In the past month I have been able to incorporate the trainer, at a moderate effort, some swimming (really recently), and some hiking. The first few attempts weren't great, but its getting better. Rainy Runs: February 2010

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 27, 2010. Olympics in the City! Well, it was a crazy, busy few weeks in the city of Vancouver! I don't think any of us really knew what to expect or knew that it would turn out the way it did. People in the streets at all times of the day and night, whopping it up. On top of that there were the houses of various countries and free events galore. There was way more to do then one could get done in a couple weeks. Speedy Peterson and the Hurricane! Saturday, February 13, 2010. I left wor...

Rainy Runs: September 2010

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 3, 2010. Last weekend we headed up to Penticton for Ironman Canada to volunteer and cheer on friends. We left work at 3. Traffic was awful getting out of Vancouver. Almost 2.5 hours to Chiliwack! After the group finished riding the course, a bunch of us went for lunch on Lakeshore and then walked over to the expo and wandered for a while. The Hammer truck was out with samples, and I tried the melon Heed and actually really liked it. I will try using that next summer. After our volunteer...

Rainy Runs: January 2010

Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Saw this on another blog. Love this city. Sunday, January 17, 2010. We are already more than halfway through January! So onto the Whistler Gran Fondo. This is a race/ride that is taking place September 11, 2010. It goes from downtown Vancouver to Whistler along the new and improved Sea to Sky Highway, which has been upgraded ahead of the Winter Olympics (which start in a few weeks! If anyone is looking for a destination ride to do and is in the general area, I think this is goi...

Rainy Runs: 2010 - Year in Review

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2011/01/2010-year-in-review.html

Tuesday, January 11, 2011. 2010 - Year in Review. 2010 started off really well. I pushed my limits on skis, both with backcountry skiing and in bounds. Scary at times, but moving forward and I did see some improvement (still lots more to be had). One of my goals over the last few years has been to increase my average weekly training time over the previous year. With the few months of downtime, that did not happen last year, but taking those months out, I was right in line with where I wanted to be. A Cle...

Rainy Runs: August 2010

http://rainyruns.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Saturday, August 28, 2010. Summer Vacation - Saltspring Island. Following Lake Cowichan we headed straight to Saltspring Island. The ferry terminal at Crofton was only about 45 mins away. There is something about Saltspring, that as soon as I am on my way, I can immediately relax. Plus, this time I was already relaxed from being at the lake for two days! This allowed for total downtime, then a bit more activity, before a bit of chaos (but fun) for a few days! Yes, it is a culinary feast. Really the main ...

TALES FROM THE MIDDLE AGES. Focusing on the guys. Who is this guy? It’s never too late to tell those close to you that you really care. May 24, 2014 in Uncategorized. I started using the words after years of frustration with my dad, who as a result of his second marriage and living in Florida, seemed to be was drifting away from me and my siblings. I can’t remember the exact occasion, but I do remember his pause and stilted reply. I ended a phone conversation with Dad with a simple, Love you. It used to ...
