An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. International Business Woman Extraordinaire. I love the 40s for the fabrics and colours of fabrics. Because times were tough because of the war, it seems people kept up their morale with cheerful clothing. I love that they weren’t afraid of colour and a good novelty print. ”. Read the full interview here: http:/ inretrospectmagazine.com/article/betty-hobcraft/. Melanie ‘Binty’ Hays. To read more 'T...

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. My parents have classic cars, so I grew up surrounded by old things, and spent my childhood going to classic car shows - then about six years ago I got an old Mini and that kick started my obsession with the Sixties. Nothing for me beats the Sixties in terms of fashion, music and furniture although I do like aspects of other eras and have recently started swing dancing. Tales of a Southern Retro.

http://www.southernretro.com/sharon_williams

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. I was 13 when I first heard R. Dean Taylor’s “Ghost in My House” at a disco, I found out it was called Tamla Motown and that it even had a special style of dancing! So, I started to do my make up by copying Marilyn Monroe and the girls from Elvis Presley films then I saw photo’s of the Supremes in London wearing ski pants and little jumpers and this has been pretty much my style ever since.

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. Owner of Rose-tinted Vintage. For me, wearing vintage has always been linked with being alternative and different; if you’re no good at being fashionable then you may as well go out of your way to stand out! And I’ve always loved a bargain - my favourite pastime is scouring the charity shops and markets for vintage. Bryony ‘Dolly de Muir’ Walker. Melanie ‘Binty’ Hays. Oli “Citizen” Lane.

http://www.southernretro.com/hannah_carrick

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. I have always loved and been naturally drawn towards the golden era days; however, it just took a while for me to find the confidence to really dress in a vintage style full time. This confidence grew from discovering the online vintage community and also the Brighton ethos - the home of alternative! An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. I’ve had an obsession with “old” things for many years although I really got into wearing vintage clothing about 6 years ago. At university it really snowballed and I have since amassed a pretty huge collection of clothing - stretching right back to Victorian! The focus of which is clothing from the late 40s, 50s and early 60s. Bryony ‘Dolly de Muir’ Walker. Melanie ‘Binty’ Hays.

Southern Retro - Documenting the retro way of life

http://www.southernretro.com/ruth_schechner

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. About three years ago - after an ex-boyfriend convinced me to go to Jive classes with him - I started making my own 50s style dirndl skirts and buying clothes from charity shops and vintage stores to wear dancing. My wardrobe eventually became entirely replaced with vintage clothes or things I had made from vintage patterns and I began to get a sense of nostalgia for a time I had never known.

http://www.southernretro.com/tina_de_wert

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. My fascination for vintage began one Sunday afternoon several years ago, when the Marilyn Monroe film ‘Bus Stop’ was shown on TV. I fell in love with the style and way of life of the time shown in the movie, and really learned to appreciate it over the next few years. I started dressing with a vintage flair about 2 years ago, and it’s now taken over my life! Bryony ‘Dolly de Muir’ Walker.

Southern Retro - Documenting the retro way of life

http://www.southernretro.com/aaron_dunmore

An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives. In 1999 I saw the movie Swingers and was so impressed with the dance scene towards the end that I decided to learn how to swing dance. At the time, the HighBall was ground zero for the neo-swing craze, and the people in vintage 30s and 40s clothing looked really cool and sharp and I decided that I would follow suit! Today I try to dress completely vintage on a day-to-day basis. To read more 'Tales'...

I’ve always had vintage pieces in my wardrobe from when I was a teenager, but it’s been only over the last few years I’ve dressed like this. I realised this was a tad weird considering all my school friends liked 80s heart throbs! Read the full interview here: http:/ inretrospectmagazine.com/article/melanie-hays/. It's one of the greatest things that you can do alone. On that note, a great masturbation experience should also be celebrated. Have a super sexy 2010! 3 of you Underse...
