March | 2012 | The Tallest Branch of the Tree
https://tallestbranch.wordpress.com/2012/03
The wall is down. The Tallest Branch of the Tree. Archive March, 2012. Riding On Cars Away from Elephants. Last weekend, we took a trip to Murchison Falls National Park. The weekend started off at 7 AM Saturday morning, when we were picked up by Maxwell, our private hire driver. We loaded our tents into the 4×4 and took off for dirt roads, sunlight, and wonderment. 8220;Just Another Post on KONY 2012” (Or, “Greetings from Uganda”). As I was taking advantage of the free internet at work, I checked Faceboo...
Cooking Blind | The Tallest Branch of the Tree
https://tallestbranch.wordpress.com/2012/02/26/cooking-blind
The wall is down. The Tallest Branch of the Tree. Upon examination of our kitchen, we realized that we were not left with much to work with. Everyday it seems that we have a new reason to ask the following question: “How did the previous interns live? Cooking was soon to become a very large part of our lives. We wanted to be economical, but also have tasty, fulfilling food. Our metal, floral-print spray-painted plates are pretty versatile. We chop meat and veggies on them, we use them in the oven, we...

I have been lucky enough to be one of five offered this internship, out of hundreds of applicants. My internship is unpaid; therefore I am asking of you a donation to help me take part in this incredible opportunity to make change in this world. Gift for Your Donation. One meal, local food. A phone call from me.

The wall is down. The Tallest Branch of the Tree. Archive April, 2012. Smiling Through the Heat. While my mind was set on figuring out a way to Kampala, I was back in the storeroom. At this point, I just couldn’t tell what a quality product was anymore. My brain was fried, trying to adjust products so that I could pass them, or trying to figure out a new way to explain the same corrections that occur over and over again. What are you doing this weekend? Named changed for privacy.

About | Cooking Blind
https://cookingblind.wordpress.com/about
Just another WordPress.com site. A group of four girls move to Gulu, Uganda as interns for Krochet Kids international. They find one giant pot, a frying pan, and a tiny gas stove. With no electricity, most dinners are cooked in the dark by candle light. Also adding to the confusion is the lack of cooking experience and the limited availability of common ingredients. Hence, we are “cooking blind”. I hope this comes out all right! There are 3 cooks in the kitchen, Literally. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
Hello world! | Cooking Blind
https://cookingblind.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/hello-world
Just another WordPress.com site. This entry was posted on January 14, 2012, in Uncategorized. We are the fresh new crop of interns for Krochet Kids Uganda. We arrived about a week ago and found that cooking in Gulu, Uganda, can be a bit different from where we come from…. In fact, most nights we cook in the dark – whether it’s because we don’t have electricity, or the wiring in the house just won’t let the downstairs lights come on… we cook most our meals by candle light. Just another WordPress.com site. Grilled Cheese and Spicy Tomato Soup! This entry was posted on January 18, 2012, in Uncategorized. We luckily found some sliced Colby cheese on a random trip to the store, so we whipped up some grilled cheese sandwiches and packaged Knox tomato soup mix that we added red pepper to…. not the most creative, but a little taste of home. Nothing beats comfort food. It was so good I forgot to take any photos! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Just another WordPress.com site. This entry was posted on January 26, 2012, in Uncategorized. Today was a national holiday in Uganda so we had a restful day off of work. What’s the perfect ending to a relaxing day? Pizza and a movie of course! We used corn flour instead of baking flour next time we’ll get it straight. We ordered a pizza for delivery instead (that’s right, even in Gulu, Uganda you can have a pizza delivered! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).
