A snapshot into my Bikram yoga world. In class yesterday the teacher mentioned foot alignment a few times. I like to think about foot alignment in three parts:. Stand with your feet together. Stand with your heels, toes, AND ankles touching. Stand with your feet facing forward, making sure the line between your feet is perpendicular to the mirror. She focused on #3- it’s a tricky one! A snapshot into my Bikram yoga world. We all need to find our ‘thing’. I am blessed to have discovered bikram yoga back in 2006. Although I didn’t maintain a regular practice until 2011, I knew I was going to love it after that first class. Now I practice 6 times a week (ish) and don’t think twice about going. I don’t have to make myself go like I did to get myself to the gym. I love going. Bikram yoga is my thing. It requires so much strength and stamina. It is so her thing. The three of us are so lucky!

A snapshot into my Bikram yoga world. What changes after a week off yoga? Why on earth did I do a double you ask? Well Thursday’s there’s an advanced class. Usually Sunday’s are the only day I can make advanced class so having off on a Thursday is a treat. We landed Wednesday night at 10 pm and I was in the 10 am class Thursday morning. So the big question: what part of my flexibility went first after a week off yoga? I guess this makes sense- when do you used those parts of your body in normal life?

You can’t really think straight and it takes longer than it should to make simple decisions. Yoga brain. For days. You should have seen me teach thermochemistry to my classes Friday! It’s 5 days of yoga with three expert yogis. Two days of 9 hours a day and then three days of 5 hours per day. Am I going to learn a lot? Will it be fun? I bet it’s going to be a blast. A snapshot into my Bikram yoga world. Great quote from a teacher this week…. Skipping savasana after a yoga class is like not wiping after going #2. Take a good savasana! You’ve earned it! This week has been a little crazy with it being Easter week and standardized testing at my high school. I’m going to be missing yoga three days. Three days this week! Needles to say my brain has been everywhere this week! My goal for next week? What changes after a week off yoga? Why on earth did I do a double you ask?
