Homemade Instruments: Teaching the Teachers | Tangled Strings
https://tangledstrings.wordpress.com/2013/05/05/homemade-instruments-teaching-the-teachers
Homemade Instruments: Teaching the Teachers. May 5, 2013 at 5:30 pm ( asking the right questions. There won’t be the time to allow hands-on construction of anything, really. In a 50-minute class, we will barely begin to explore homemade instruments. Beyond asking what can be made, the question has to be broken down into smaller topics: How long does it take? How many steps are required, and what materials and tools are needed? And, that’s what I will ask them:. Are you ready for this sort of project?

Home-Made Guitars: Lessons Learned. May 5, 2013 at 1:23 pm ( asking the right questions. Tags: arts and crafts for kids. The original directions I found for building a milk carton guitar come from Karen Latchana Kenney’s book Cool Rock Music. But she deserves none of the blame for my results. Kenney’s directions were to use wooden yardsticks. Our first attempt to build one of these guitars came out like this:. The screw eyes also did not hold well to the wood with that much tension,. And a coffee can:.

Celebrating the Season Of Lights | Tales of a Tree Hugger

Tales of a Tree Hugger. Just another WordPress.com weblog. January 4, 2009. Celebrating the Season Of Lights. One thing that has always delighted me about this season is the abundance of lights. In Arkansas, I was pleased to discover that there is an annual tradition of decorating town squares and have made it a point each year to visit the square in Fayetteville. This year was no exception. Come stroll through the magical dispay. Wishing you all joy, and peace. Lights of the ozarks. On January 4, 2009.

Tales of a Tree Hugger. Just another WordPress.com weblog. January 13, 2009. When we moved into this house, we decided to turn the front room into an office as it has wonderful windows that let in lots of light. There are two tall and narrow windows, one on each side of the center ones. I did not want to cover the entire area with curtains so we put up a vinyl window covering that looks like old fashioned stained glass. Laquo; Celebrating the Season Of Lights. Taglines are for people with a plan. February 2, 2008. Kalessin is doing The Canterbury Tales. In “core class”. He wrote a required five paragraph essay about his favorite tale, the Pardoner’s Tale. I noticed the following paragraph in it:. I am just reading Stephen King’s On Writing,. In which he mentions having to explain to readers who accuse him of cruelty to animals because of something that a character in a book does to a dog that the character wasn’t real, and the dog never existed. Frankly, IR...

Rants and Ramblings of a Bad Mommy and Wannabe Writer. April 20, 2008 in Road to Famous Authorhood. A funny thing happened today and somewhere in Springfield, there may be an octogenarian writing about it too. If only he knew the rest of the story. I went to Wal-Mart. My usual greeter was working. I picked up a few items: deodorant, mouthwash, toothpaste, dryer sheets, and ice cream. Lots of ice cream. He burst out laughing. “I was just funning with you.”. I called home and said, “I can’t fin...My husban...

Rants and Ramblings of a Bad Mommy and Wannabe Writer. Time to Stop Squashing a Dream? June 25, 2008 in Homeschooling. One of the stated reasons that I choose to home educate my children is so that they will be free to follow their dreams so it seems odd in retrospect that I have been shooting down a dream. I only meant to be realistic but it seems that the universe might be trying to tell me something. And I am not, not, not one of. But it just keeps coming up. She was asked to help a university student...
Twas the Night Before Easter… | The Anti-Mother

Rants and Ramblings of a Bad Mommy and Wannabe Writer. Twas the Night Before Easter…. March 22, 2008 in Motherhood. After we ate some real food, I took my son to the dessert bar. He was looking at everything to decide what he wanted. There was this awful pan full of green jello. I wish that I had taken the camera because I can’t describe this vomitous bilge accurately. It was the most awful mess of nasty stuff I’ve ever seen. My son says, loudly, “What is that gross stuff, Mom? We went back to the table ...
If You Give a Kid an African Violet… | The Anti-Mother

Rants and Ramblings of a Bad Mommy and Wannabe Writer. If You Give a Kid an African Violet…. April 22, 2008 in Homeschooling. My apologies to the author of If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. If you give a kid an African Violet, she’s going to need to repot it. So you buy a cheap clay flowerpot and tell her she can paint it. You get out the acrylic paints and brushes and she paints the flowerpot. The flowerpot is left to dry and the paints don’t get put away. So, if you give a kid an African Violet, you’...

A Tangled Mess of String-type Things
A Tangled Mess of String-type Things. Sunday, August 21, 2011. I hate drama. I really do. But somehow it follows me around, occasionally poking me in the shoulder and saying "hey, pay attention to me now". Like it does most teenagers. I don't know how most of you deal with it. Probably not like I used to- tell my parents and sister and dog everything and seek their wise guidance. Well, I'm still telling the dog. He was off-limits. It wasn't necessarily him. It was anyone who the term "him" applied to....
Tangled String | “Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” G. Bernard Shaw
Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself. G. Bernard Shaw. A wee bit of knitting. Friday, 29 May 15. I have finally finished the second of the two jaunty berets. This one in orange. I was a bit worried about having enough yarn. I was not wrong to worry. It and its companion will go off in the mail tomorrow. She will like being home. There is no one there to make her exercise for three hours a day. I have to say I’m with her on that one! No answers, only questions. They found the...
