Stitching With Attitude: QUIRKY COLOUR NAMES
http://stitchingwithattitude.blogspot.com/2015/06/quirky-colour-names.html
Tuesday, 23 June 2015. In my previous post, I mentioned about colour names and the vast number of colours available to us. Fifty Shades of Grey is just a drop in the old bucket! Perhaps because I work with colour so closely on a daily basis, the massive number of colours and colour names does not phase me that much. Matching them up is another story! Just how do these companies come up with these names and we have often wondered just WHO is responsible for the task? Http:/ www.slate.com/blogs/the...So it...

October 31, 2016. It sounds so much better to call it an adventure, instead of a bloody nightmare, doesn’t it? A whole week ago, the dealership knew exactly who to talk to about this problem, but they just kept doing nothing. October 17, 2016. Most often, I am inspired by other textile artists. And often, their work is a springboard for something I want to try in quilting. If you think that’s wrong, here is a quote I keep in my studio:. If I wanted to make perfect objects, I wouldn’t use fabric. And just...

Stitching With Attitude: Boro - the Original Recycled Textile
http://stitchingwithattitude.blogspot.com/2014/10/boro-original-recycled-textile.html
Sunday, 5 October 2014. Boro - the Original Recycled Textile. In today's world, the words reuse, recycle and repurpose have become increasingly common and in recent times, there has been more emphasis placed on the recycling of textiles. But in Japan, in the 19th and early 20th century, the reuse of textiles was more of a humble nature, emanating out of necessity and a societal effort to avoid waste rather than dealing with environmental issues and energy saving. Stitching With Attitude: FIFTY SHADES - A Fantasy in Fabric
http://stitchingwithattitude.blogspot.com/2015/02/fifty-shades-fantasy-in-fabric.html
Thursday, 5 February 2015. FIFTY SHADES - A Fantasy in Fabric. In mid November 2014, I was invited by Virginia Spiegel to be one of the chosen artists to participate in the "100 Fiberart for a Cause" 2015 fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It is always a pleasure to work with Virginia and due to the high calibre of fiber artists selected it is also a fun challenge for me to create something special for the campaign. I was seeking the more " vanilla" variety! Eventually in a completely unexpected...

Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Another event was the coming down of a famous tree on my skyline. A lovely pine that died. I won't show you the entire sequence.it was very methodical and there was a lot of grinding up of branches.it took two days. I think the tree had a good life, and better it be taken down than allowed to fall down, but I miss it. We've had LOTS of rain! One early morning we went for a walk and decided not to go very far due to the great windiness that assailed us at the corner:. I wish ...

A New Glasses Case. Asymp; 4 Comments. Do you ever feel the need for some instant gratification when it comes to your sewing? I chose two coordinating batiks from my collection for the project. I’m sorry to say that I don’t remember where I got the pattern from. The pattern pieces however are simple. Both the same shape, one only slightly shorter than the other. Here are the cardboard pieces I cut out from the pattern. Asymp; 1 Comment. Since this quilt was a gift for a new mom I needed a little tag to a...
