It is an estuary that demands a visit when the salmon return in the fall. The final piece is “Skokomish at Staircase”, the second in an ongoing series about Washington rivers. This was inspired by an early summer hike in the Olympic Mountains to sea the river in full flood. NW x SE “USGS Southern Pines Quadrant”. April 1, 2012.
